Executive Drive Pro experience.

Hey all,

My current daily driver is a 650i coupe with Adaptive Drive. I’m not much of a spirited driver at all but sometimes I like to corner a bit faster (no tire screeching or anything like that) and the adaptive drive is doing an amazing job in minimizing body roll. Now I’m currently looking at a CPO 750Li xDrive m-sport, it’s loaded but unfortunately the only thing that is missing is the Executive Drive Pro option which is supposed to suppress body roll.

Obviously I’ll be test driving soon but I’m curious if any of you guys have experience with previously owning a vehicle with adaptive drive and now owning a G11/12 without the active roll stabilization options.

I had for 10 years a E65 with dynamic drive + EDC. Now i have G11 without Executive Drive Pro and there is no problem with fast corners.

I’ve driven a G12 without and a G11 with Executive Drive Pro. Even in Sport, there was way too much vertical movement and roll, so it was an essential option. I wouldn’t have bought a car without it. You need to try it for yourself though, because we all have different tastes / requirements.

Having had the car for a while now, I like that you can just leave it in Adaptive and it sorts itself out plus there are other useful benefits such as it raising the car to go over speed bumps or when you park face in to a kerb, thanks to the camera.

The G11 isn't the sharpest handling tool on the road perfectly acceptable but lacking if you try and chuck it into a corner, I would if you can and it's important to you get the executive pro option if you want a sportier feel.

Although the 7 is a refined cruiser and should be looked at/judged as what it is.

I certainly enjoy the Executive Drive and would much rather prefer a car that's got it (luckily mine does). However, my understanding two conditions need to be met to get the most out of it: be in adaptive mode, and have nav route active. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Be in adaptive mode is the main one. With the Nav route active you get better gear selections is my understanding.

I would not get a 7 or any large vehicle without the Executive Drive Pro or similar technology. I felt the system on the older 7 did a better job with the body roll compared to the G1x system.

I always drive in adaptive mode. I wish I didn’t have to set it every single time I start the car though.

I coded mine with Bimmercode to always start in adaptive.

I also have 650i as a weekend car and while testing G11 (I prefer the short-wheelbase one), I was very unsatisfied how bad the non-Executive Drive Pro car handled. While cornering in some of the shart corners I was afraid the car will lie down on the road.

After going with Executive Drive Pro I must say I am very satisfied, this car handles now like BMW should handle, no matter if you drive in Sport or Comfort mode, it's going in and out like a train.
