Alpina B7 CCP Recall
Hello all,
I have been thinking of buying a 2012 Alpina B7 to replace my E60 M5. After doing a bunch of online research, I have come to learn that the N63 motor is a monster when it comes to problems (seems as though there are more problems than the S85). Do the N63 engine apply to the Alpina B7's, since they use upgraded N63 motors. Also, I have read on a huge N63 recall where BMW calls it the "Customer Care Package". Does this recall fix any of the N63 engine problems, and does anyone know if Alpina B7's using N63 motors are included in this recall? Thanks all! |

I almost bought a B7, but after the research and surmising that the cost of any repair to an Alpina part will be more than a standard BMW part (which is expensive enough) I decided to go with a late F01 750i, which has the revised N63. Not to say that it won't have problems too, but at least it had more frequent oil changes than used to be typical for these cars.
Sure, the Alpina drives better, handles better and scoots along faster, but for me it just wasn't worth that premium. I wonder if the OP made the move?

Presumably, yes. I suspect that the original CPP was applied to the newer engines during manufacturing, which gives us the new N63B4401 (or N63TU). And in 2014 (I think) BMW changed their free oil change schedule to require more frequent (time/mile) oil changes to help reduce issues.
Whether or not they actually solved the problem remains to be seen.
