But there are legitimate concerns from the Trump voters side that need to be addressed - such as creating good jobs for people who've been left behind in the current economy. There isn't a easy solution to these problems but the far left doesn't even want to talk about it. When I try to bring it up, they talk about how backwards people are and how they need to change... which is not a economic solution, it's just a rant about social norms. When I push further about what we can do to give jobs to coal miners, other blue and white collar jobs that have disappeared, they have no answer.

They talk about how everyone should go get a college education and get a "real" job... that's great but isn't an option for everyone. The guy who is in his 50s and supporting a family isn't going to have the time or money to get a college education - nor will anyone want to hire him after he has his college diploma. It really isn't an actionable thing.

Anyway, I don't think there's an easy solution to the economy and jobs. But it should be a discussion we should have. The far left would rather not talk about it.

I'm not sure how you can say "the far left would rather not talk about it" when this was pretty much Bernie's entire platform during the primaries. HRC is a centrist, Bernie is far more left and liberal than she is.

I'm referring to the far left people, not the candidates.

Bernie has a pretty comprehensive plan - some of it is a bit far fetched but it's a good ideal. He's got the right mind set, just need to moderate his ideas to garner larger appeal.

I've seen the same thing from the right recently as well though. Most recently people defending Trumps comments on flag burners and completely forgetting what the 1st Amendment is meant to protect. Each side has their fanboys.

I dislike flag burning as much as the next guy but I agree, it is free speech.

I can see the tunnel vision. Everyone is so focused on what they feel is important to them that they don't want to accept other views.

I think its a fallacy to use small sample size impressions of left leaning individuals as an indicator of the goals of a political movement. I think policy insights/goals are better learned through the leader(s) of that movement.

That's the whole point, most people on any side doesn't know the whole of what their leaders represent. They pick up a few things, think it's great and then don't consider other ideas.

The whole thread is about the behavior of individuals.

It seems unworldly to lump various demographics into one side or the other, but I see this as just another projection of behavior from those on the right-willing to overlook the exact same cult-like behavior from their emperor.

Both the extreme left and extreme right exhibit cult like behaviors. Unfortunately for the more moderate of both sides, which i feel is still a majority, the extremes scream the loudest.

Hopefully soon, they will start drinking the punch.

I have to admit, I clicked on the thread not knowing it was 3 years old. Read page 1, then page 2, then got to your comment and took a look at the dates. Sad that I had no inclination that the thread was 3 years old. It was all the same people arguing about all the same things and seemed very timely. It would appear than none of us have evolved much in 3 years.
