Those bigger grills stand out big time. It looks like whoever did the render just modded the new X5 M-Sport bumper/front onto this picture. Those sharp lines of the bumper don't look good on a sedan IMO.

Yes, does look like the X5 grille, but I wonder where the lights are from, judging by the fact that the 3 sets the design language it will probably look similar to this render

I am reserving judgment on the grille until I see it in person. Or at least on a car that has not been camouflaged. I don't see the grille when driving; I am more interested in what they are going to do in the interior.

Click on the pic and zoom... you can see the upper dash now has a stepped up ridge. Nothing major beyond that.

The New Bmws's have gotten so boring.
Same face on every car on its lineup. Stretched and pulled but pretty much the same old same old. If they would only stick to the Conceptual Designs.. they'd win |

You can say that about almost every brand. The front end/grille is almost always a brand identifier. Look at Lexus and you will see what I consider a totally ugly trapezoid on every model. Look at Audi and you will see the same oversized grille, etc etc.

The Lexus designs went from awesome to awful looking cars, admittedly this is the case with the BMW as well. However Lexus managed to make this horrible trapezoid design work really well on the LC500. Much nicer looking vehicle than the current M850i. And even better in person.
The BMW design language slowly recovering for the last 10 years, another decade and it might make full circle and look great again.

Will there be an update to the engines? Any chance the '19 or '20 will see the 520hp version that is used for the 850? I have not been able to find any news on this.

If I see 520hp 750i in February LCI, available to order in Europe from April - I will forgive them (BMW eggheads) everything.

I actually saw the new 7 series today, it was the 745e.
Couldn't take any pictures though : There will be a few new colour options, the front has the larger kidneys like the new X5 and the rear light units are now also in 3D design with a light strip along the back. The new engine for the 745e is a detuned 3.0L 6 cylinder. On the inside not that much has changed, the digital display instrument cluster from the X5 and idrive 7. Climate controls stay the same. Also saw the new 3 series, 8 convertible and Z4 in the flesh. The new 8 series convertible looks stunning!!! Trunk space is decent and with the retractable roof in 3 layer fabric, trunk space can be enlarged when the roof is closed. |

I am so bummed they did not update more of the interior of the 7. I really like what they did to the X5, X7 and 3 series interior. We have to wait another 3+ years.... I have a 2016 750i and ready to make a change... you would think the 7 would be first in the interior updates....
