Appreciated!

OEM - 61612408631
Bosch - 3397007309
Valeo - 577849

Bosch and Valeo codes may differ by region but you can find suitable ones by OEM code search. Also, these are direct fit blades, but there are other suitable ones from same manufacturers with adapters for fitting. I always prefer direct fit as it looks cleaner.

I change my blades at least once a year. Usually after summer when sun is done baking the heck out of the rubber and I need a good set for rainy period.

appreciate it heavily!

Are these an easy replacement? Basically a "plug n play"?

Replacement is very easy. Just pinch the locking tab on the upper side and slide out the blade. Then just slide in and push on the new blades until the locking tab clicks in place.

If your blades are old then chances are that there are all sorts of road garbage between the surfaces that slide. It might make removal of old blades a bit more difficult so you might have to jiggle them out. You can use some anti seize to make life easier and do less friction damage. Once that is done, just clean the surfaces and it will be smooth saling from there on.

By the way, do you know how to activate the wiper bleeds to stand up straight in order to change them? I don’t know how to do it.

Get in your car with the key and close the door. Car should wake up to 'residing' state. Dont press the start button to change the state, but keep holding down the wiper stalk. After couple of seconds, wipers will do 2.5 cycles and park themselves in service position. Repeat to lower the wipers into normal parking position.

Apply few squirts of windshield washer fluid before you move them so you dont run wipers dry and scratch the windshield.

There's always the online part database sites, too...like www.realoem.com or www.bimmercat.com. Once you have the correct 11 digit BMW part nbr...you can simply google the part nbr for vendors that sell that item (ie BMW xx xx x xxx xxx where x=the actual part nbr)

Just bare in mind that all those databases are dated December 2019. This was the last time that stand alone ETK database was published by BMW. ETK is now part of online AOS/TIS that only legally required parties (workshops, etc) have access to. Codes in those freely accessible databases might be superseded and new cars are not in there altogether.

Sorry if I had to repeat this part - keep holding down the stalk until the wipers stop at their service (vertical) position.

This process is very easy. Takes less than 5 mins total.

Good luck!

For some reason I’ve been holding it without the car fully being “on” and still nothing, just keeps moving back and forth, do I have to hold it down for a few mins?

That means you are in residing state, not parking. Parking state is when you first enter the vehicle and haven't pushed start/stop button yet, or when you end a drive and press start/stop button to finish.

So just enter the car and hold the stalk down, that’s all?

The owners manual embedded in iDrive should have instructions for your specific BMW. Sometimes the instructions are slightly different between models/model years. Some require pressing upward on the stalk, some require pressing downward on the stalk…and then there’s the various STATE that is required (idle or off).

Examples…the 1st pic is from the f06 6 series & the 2nd pic is from the g05 X5…the position of the stalk to move the wiper blades into the fold out position are different:

Do a keyword search for “WIPERS”…or perhaps “FOLD OUT” in the iDrive owners manual.
