Same. But that era of tuner cars is popular once again, just like muscle cars were really popular when I was a kid. Unfortunately most people buying tuners now are destroying them. You still see a lot of awesome clean 70s muscle cars today, but in another 20 years I don't know that there will be many clean 90's tuner cars.

Awesome thread. I have fond memories of helping some friends with their builds of these when I was younger. Also weird to think about them being able to have antique plates now. Are you going to do a build thread for the new one?

I think its the nostalgia for me. I remember thinking when younger, "it would be so cool to do this build "the right way" with enough time/money". This thread seems to have embodied that.

I still love 'em. One of my buddies has a DB8 ITR in champ white and it's such a cool car.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with this one.

Couple more. Been driving around town trying to figure out what I want to do first. It needs new suspension bad.

Also had the AC recharged. Game changer in this southern summer.

I built an EJ coupe all JDM way back like 2003-2004 sheesh when super fun car. Ill have to see if I can find some pics.

off the top of my head
it was 95 black coupe mirror tint. bronze work emotions, B16B, Mugen headers, Mugen ECU, HID conversion, RS*R exhaust, Cusco, power brace strut braces rear lower tie bar, Poly urithane solid motor mounts, AEM, fuel rail, regulator, filter and CAI, (BBK and coilovers I dont remember the brand) red OEM recaro type R interior, bigger aluminum radiator mishimotoa i think, after I hit a dear. too out the front support to save weight that was a mistake. lol, the deer killed a lot of stuff. reverse indigo gauges lol, power steering and AC removed. and CX-3 JDM squash air freshener. which i still use love that smell.

I bought Toda Vtec killer cams and was going to build the head, but I couldnt bring myself to molest the B16B. I think at the time there was like 1 other B16B in the DMV area.

Def need a lower front brace, will virtually eliminates wheel hop.

went from that to infiniti G35 -->335I-->tahoe--> ducati 848 evo,--> Impala-->silverado Zr2--> M4CS/440I

Car looks great. You should yellow zinc the bolts.

I had a 96 ex coupe. Koni yellows, gc coilovers, stiff springs, poly bushings, the comptech rear sway bar. It was great for auto cross. I bought a full gsr swap with itr trans, started to rebuild the motor, it didn't need it, and it got too expensive so I sold it all including the car, which couldn't pass inspection. I got on pretty well with just the d16y8, all the bolt ons, act clutch and light flywheel were great mods. I had poly motor mounts too which was stupid.

Deleting the power steering was another great mod, with the breather kit.

Sonic203 on YouTube has all the good Hondas, check them out they do the best work

I hope to overpay for a good one in the future and do the whole build. My buddy had a gsr swapped eg and the way it pulled from the front was kinda scary.

Sweet ride and extremely rare in the US. I wouldn't park it ANYWHERE by itself but in a locked garage. I'd also invest in a removable steering wheel. These cars disappear.

for sure, i never take it to a place where my eyes arent always on it. i have anti theft systems and a tracker on it. the detachable steering wheel doesnt do much these days. and on top of that its insured to the moon; but i dont want to go through importing another, and black is impossible to find

I put a kill switch on the fuel pump. I'll never tell where I put the switch .. it was too good of a spot. I had to put a relay under the backseat for the switch, there was a good guide somewhere. They might break the windows and slash the seat but that's it. I think they have phone apps now to immobilize.

The worst day of my life. On august 8th I was driving home from my haircut on a beautiful afternoon. Stopped at a red light, well behind the white line mind you.

As I’m waiting I notice my section of lights turn green (left arrow on red) so I start seeing if it’s clear across the street as I know they have the same signal. It’s clear. Not a soul. I inch forward as I am met with somebody on the left (passenger side, US drivers side) has blown through their red light in the right turning lane and runs right through me.

They were an uninsured. Unlicensed driver and also an illegal immigrant.

Hits me at about 35 mph and pushes me on the curb. Bends my wheels, crushes my fender, door, and heart.

I will fix it. It’s my dream car I have to fix it.

I have also started a go fund me for it to help with rebuild costs. Any little bit helps.

Here’s photos.

Sorry to hear, glad you are OK. Are you OK?

What % of the damage will insurance cover? Hopefully the out of pocket is palatable.

I’m totally fine. Since the car is RHD I wasn’t affected at all.

I’m thinking out of pocket will be close to 10k. Wheels alone are about 3 of that. Sourcing parts and paint work will probably be the remaining.

USAA sees this car as a 1998 Honda civic and nothing more. Expecting the worst when it comes to insurance.

I've heard good and bad about USAA coverages. Hopefully you will be one of the good stories.

Does USAA do policies based on estimated value? I forget what its called. State Farm asked if I'd like to do that for my G35 when I had it because it would cover everything up to a set value. Premium was a little more tho.

I'd imagine fender, door, and such could be sourced from USDM (if you're ok with that). Interior panels should still work on either market door. Trying to source JDM might be fun.
