Car stalling at idle after refueling (Loose fuel cap)
Hello,
After a visit to a petrol station, I filled up with fuel (E95 petrol) and (by mistake) didn't turn the fuel filler cap fully. I drove about 4 km and noticed that the car started trying to stall on idle. I screwed the fuel filler cap on properly and tried to drive on. The car runs without problems in both D and R gears. However, it continues to try to stall on P and N. Also, when I start the car in the morning (Cold start after 8-10 hrs of parking) the car runs without problems for about 8-10 minutes then starts trying to stall. Fuel Rail Pressure at idle is about 48-50 bar (~700 PSI). Meanwhile the LPFP pressure is about 4,850-5,100 bar (~72PSI). Car BMW F01, 740i, N54 engine. Where to start looking for the problem? |

Can A BMW safely run E95 fuel? Are you confusing E95 fuel (fuel that is 95% ethanol/5% gas) with gas/petrol that has a 95 RON octane rating?
What type of fuel and what octane rating does your owners manual recommend? BTW, there's an owners manual embedded in iDrive...so if you don't have the paper back version, you can simply use the one built into iDrive.

Hmmm..where'd ya go?
Can you verify/clarify if you intentionally filled up with E95 (ethanol) fuel...or if you filled up with fuel that had a 95 RON octane rating? E95 ethanol fuel and fuel with a 95 RON octane rating are two different things.
