G12 740le loud rattling sound

Hi all, looking for some help here, I purchased a used 740le too months ago and has been running smoothly with no issues whatsovever However on my way to home from work today it started to make a very loud rattling metal to metal noise. This happened on the motorway while driving on electric mode.
The noise happens around 50mph. On low speeds the noise goes away. The noise is repeating so it must be a rotating part. The noise is also on with engine running so is not specific to when running on electric mode.


I have checked the tyres and wheels and cannot see any damage. I cannot visually see anything working with the car and there are no warnings on the cockpit. What could this be? Is there anything I can do to further diagnose understand myself. I will take the car to mechanic but not sure if safe to drive in mean time. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Could it be a stone lodged somewhere?

Thank you, problem sorted, I installed a front lip spoiler a few months back , it had become loose and was flapping around at high speeds. Silly I know but at least is not a serious issue.
