Does my car have the foot swipe to open the trunk?

2014 740lix. Was it an option? Not sure how to make it work. Advise appreciated as always thanks guys.

I'd look in my owners manual first to see if this feature is mentioned. If it's NOT mentioned, then your build date/model year probably predates this option.

If it DOES mention it...then follow the instructions. If you can't get it to work, then decode your VIN to see if the option is listed...or google search for the 2014 f15 ordering and pricing guide PDF to see if it is listed as being part of a larger option package.

The manual built into the navigation does state how to use the foot sensor but still no luck getting it to work. Hmm

Try doing a quick simple search on youtube...I'm sure there's a BMW genius video posted on how to operate this feature.

EDIT: just out of curiosity...in the youtube search field I typed "BMW genius how to kick open trunk" and this video was right near the top of the results
  1. Must have Comfort Access
  2. Must have remote on your person to activate

If you have Comfort Access (keyless entry) then you should have it but to be honest I have it and it is crap. Whenever I have bags of shopping or I'm carrying both the little ones and I want it to open when I swipe my foot under the car it never works and yet if I walk past the back of the car when I leave it, I can be pretty sure that 1 time in 2 it will open...possibly just to make me look stupid. It probably works much better in the newer cars or I just have the wrong technique

I find this to be a hit or miss sometimes. Thus I stand with bags in hand kicking away under the car probably looking like a fool.

You're incorrect, as my 2014 F01 has it and it works like a champ.

Does it close the same way? My 2013 740 Li opens with the kick but doesn't close with the kick.

Are you both following the instructions required for the trunk to close using the kick feature? If you don’t now the requirements yet...refer to your owners manual...or watch the video posted last year (post #4) and pay attention to what the guy says in the video between 45 seconds-51 seconds. If you missed the detail in your manual, the guy in the video mentions what is required to close the trunk with the kick feature.

After researching, I don't believe the 2013 7 series F01/F02 can Kick foot close. It can only open. 2014 and newer can do both. Go figure.

Closes the exact same way for me too... Takes a second longer but makes a different sound to notify you that its going to close.

Same issue. Mine is hit or miss. Works 100% of the time that I don't really need it. When my arms are full never works. Idk what I'm doing wrong but it's annoying.

My theory is that the key transmitter is not being seen by the car. I get a lot of remote not in vehicle alerts and have to hold it to the steering column. Enough for it to be extremely irritating.

that makes total sense... there are plenty of times i touch my door handle with the fob in my pocket and nothing happens...
So with that said, i barely ever use the trunk lift.... in fact i never even tried until i saw it posted in this thread.

Just tried it. Mines for sure did it. 4 years of having it and never knew it could do it.
