Thanks but do not be worried as we all already knew how does the new 7-series looked like. It has already leaked.

Sigh BMW, so much focus on technology, looks, and luxury. Is this really what BMW 7er customers are asking for? Hand gestures? Self parking cars? Touch screens? Really makes me miss the good old e38 days and I am not even 40 yet! I cringe at the next generation of self driving autos. I have been told by numerous BMW insiders that the current 7er has been a huge let down volume/sales wise. I think this is partly because the 7 is confused.. is this a car to drive or be driven in?

Reading that, I'd say you're going to be pleasantly surprised. Many of us miss the E38 and so do people at BMW. Perhaps a happy cross of lost tradition and luxury benchmark is here if one doesn't focus on either individually.

Thank you very much for the post. I have been told that the new kidney grills blades opens and closes depending on the engine temperature is that true?

Also what is the red carpet option I heard about?

That's probably, one of the best news i have read today. Is nice to know that BMW is taking back the 7, to what is mean to be, the best expression of luxury and technology in one package that is great to drive.

Thanks for all the info!

E32 7 was what I was picturing in my head and completely forgot about one recent concept and production model that do have a similar feature, most likely because they both are executed in a way different from the 7 has it. But no it is not the horizontal trim strips as you asked.
I love the E32 7 -- timeless looks -- elegant, sporty. If they can capture that, I'm a buyer.

Thanks for your comments. Can't wait for the reveal.

I miss my e38. Thanks again for your comments -- I have high hopes for this new 7er.

Yes the car has active aerodynamics and are clearly shown in the press photos recently released. Since someone already mentioned the Light Carpet...It's the pathway lighting which is now OLED source. Many members have been speculating whether the M4 GTS (whatever nomenclature is used) or M2 would be the first car to introduce OLED exterior lighting. That press release simply stated M GmbH would soon launch a production car featuring OLED Technology not that the car would be launching the technology. That said, the 7 does not have OLED tail lights nor is M GmbH responsible solely for ///Mx (single digit) cars.

Can someone that has seen the car shed some light if it looks close to this?

That rendering is the closest I've seen that comes close to actually conveying the presence it has in person. That said, the hood/bonnet are not correct, the mirrors are not correct, and the design of the front bumper cover is close but still significantly off (from the production M Sport).

Thanks for the insight, thats what I thought. Hope the bumper is a tad more aggressive though in the real car, since you said this looks like the M sport.

Yes it is more aggressive and refined than that rendering. I think athletic would be a more appropriate term.

And yet the M Sport doesn't quite look like those renderings
...Oh wait, the holes around the bumper vents are meant to attach some sort of aluminum / gloss black trim like on the previously referred to render

I am intrigued about the M 3 and the 750iX. I think my next buy will be one or the other.
