"Golf Tee" Mod for the 750i Exhaust?

I can only assume the standard 750i has the exhaust flaps that open up at a certain RPM to let out more of a ROAR!

However I am not 100% sure if the M Sport models have the same exhaust flap, as I have not had my car for long nor have I kicked it past 3k just yet to hear the full song.

If our M Package 750i's do have the flap, is there any way to open it up permanently?

Thanks in advance!

use a hose clamp from Home Depot to hold the valve open, it works well

Thanks. Would you happen to know if the 750i has just one exhaust flap, or are they on both sides? Any photos would help me understand the placement

On my older E46 I just pulled a vacuum hose and put a golf tee right in there which really helped. When I got my ZHP (many moons ago!) it did not even have the exhaust flap which makes we wonder if M package cars have them at all.

750i would have one valve on each side, as compared to the 740i which has one side completely shut until the valve is activated.

like this, but using a hose clamp instead is much easier than trying to tie some thick gauge steel wires.

Great info, thanks. So this should be right behind the muffler? Will it throw any error codes?

Hi again

You have been a great help! I have been traveling without access to my car. I looked under my car this morning and see there is absolutely NO access to the mufflers from the bottom of the car! This car has some shrouding under the car and it looks like I will need to remove all of this to get to the mufflers, which I rather not do.

Is there any other way to get this mod done? I am hoping I am missing something and there is an easier way to get in to the muffler.

thanks in advance

I got the OBD reader and BimmerLink app. Works like a charm to open the exhaust flaps on my 750

Pick up an OBDLink MX+ adapter then download BimmerLink app to iOS. See link below.

https://bimmerlink.app/

You could also download bimmercode and code your car with the BT adapter.

The exhaust flap option isn't in BimmerCode, it's in the BimmerLink app.

Also, does the app have to stay open for the flaps to remain in open mode?

Here is me answering my own question https://youtu.be/iQU2UfPJFTo

For the 750 there is a noticeable difference. Hard to tell via video. Maybe I'll grab a flyby this weekend.

Sometime this week or next I'd like to replace the stock resonators with aftermarket vibrants and see if it increases and makes it more aggressive yet still elegant. It's a 7 after all and not an M5 lol.

I heard the M550 and M850 which all have the same engines but the exhaust note is intoxicating.

Please keep us updated with the before and after progress!

I agree, the 7 shouldn’t be loud but I’m dying to hear a bit of a growl

Just modded my 740, very subtle difference. More depth and gargle but not much change to loudness

I want a 750 now 😩

Does it stay on the ON mode all the time or you always need to turn it on?
