Engine oil too full
Hi,
I have a 2016 740LD (UK) with B57D30T0. I have recently (it's happened 3 times in last 3 months) started getting Engine oil too full warnings. The car was serviced 6 months ago (111k mileage). Theory - I suspect this is because I have only been doing very short trips and a DPF regen has not always had a chance to complete – thus it seems diesel can get into the engine oil this way (or so I've read). My 3 questions are Is my theory correct on how the engine oil could now be over maximum feasible? How do I remove just a small amount of engine oil to reduce it down to maximum (also to check the oil) – the B57 doesn't have a dipstick, so no obvious places for a syphon. Does diesel in engine oil have a major detrimental effect – I.e. should I do an oil change? (I know for safety sake I should, but could I get away without doing it for a couple of months until we get nicer weather)? Many thanks |

I had this with my 530d previously. Worth getting an oil sample examined, to be sure, but mine turned out to be a software update that cured it, happened three times from new, but once updated never happened again.
Oil sample was worth it though, about £35 and so thorough… many available on Google.. Hope you find out that it is. |

I'd personally do an oil and filter change asap, dunno why the nicer weather would matter mate. also yes increased oil level is a dpf thing. |
