End of the Road

Just traded in my problematic since day one 2016 750.

From when I bought it cpo at 40k miles till when I traded it in at 60k miles, it's been nothing but trouble. This was my 3rd 7 series. It was a nice car but certainly not worth the headaches it came with. Will probably never buy another Bmw again

Don't let the door hit you in the...

No, seriously, sorry to hear that. BMWs are often a labor of love, we love to hate them. But nothing else drives like a BMW, not a Benz, not the Audi. And they are not without their faults either.

I hope you enjoy whatever it is you replace it with.

You are right. Benz and Audis also have faults. However their faults don't include turbo coolant leaks, comfort access malfunctions, air compressor malfunctions, active grill shutter malfunctions, torn driveshaft flex disc malfunctions, all before 60k miles.

Then that must mean most 7s are lemons. All three 7s I had were unreliable.

At least your pain is over. LOL.

I just ordered a 2022 Tesla Model S. Ready to try something else.

Nothing gives as much pleasure - or headache - as a Bimmer.

The good news is that the B7 is CPO’d though October. The Tesla is set to arrive before the end of September, so I’m driving the Alpina every day like I stole her. Haha. Far more fun than treating her tenderly.

Best of luck.

Bad luck. Sorry. Many have had better luck.
I've had worse luck with Audi and MB for us has been about the same as BMW, in our case, fortunately, not too bad.

Want to talk about love/hate? Ask about Alfa Romeo

Actually, there is something that drives better than the BMW. The car I traded the 7 in for.

Great car, but way way more expensive to fix out of warranty. I figure for most luxury brands you have to pay to play via extended warranty or costly repairs.

Lexus being the only exception, but most won't consider that in the same league, and rightly so since they don't really take risks with new innovative technologies like the Germans.

The car came with a 1 year CPO warranty. And luckily it's not some bullshit bmw cpo warranty. The turbo coolant leak in the 7 wasn't covered by cpo warranty as the leak is due to the brittle rubber lines Bmw continues to use in their overly hot engines. Bmw doesn't cover leaking rubber or plastic parts in their engine under cpo as they know it eventually goes bad with their flawed engine design.
They wanted $5,600 for the repair. The guys at Bentley had a good laugh at that story. Bmws continued use of that engine is one of the reasons I won't buy another 7 ever again.

I second KK22’s advice to get a warranty. We got rid of a GT off fleet in 2019 after 6 years. It averaged £4k per annum in service, maintenance and repair costs, so £24k or > $30k, which was fairly heavily skewed to years 5 and 6. They were pretty good on drivetrain goodwill, but those hourly rates - ouch! Standout costs were > £1k to diagnose an electrical gremlin and similar again to replace a cracked air con pipe, that had to be pattern fabricated as they could not get an OEM one for a long time. Also, averaged 10-12k miles on a set of tyres. Having said that, absolutely lovely car, but the bills are too much for me to stomach personally.

Wow! I get the tone with regard the niggles of the G11/12 but the CGT is another world in terms of cost and complexity.. hand built in England is another way of saying not everything works.

Get that extended warranty extended and enjoy, great car!

I’d have stayed in the frying pan. Much as I love Bentley.

Was between this and a cpo Rolls Royce Ghost. But the ghost is essentially a 7 series, so I didn't want to go with that
