G11 not bad, certainly better than a Bangle 7, but it's a Lexus with kidney grills and european leather trim.

Whoops, we do agree then

I'm still trying to decide whether the G11 Msport is on the same planet as the E38. Probably not, but for me personally, not too far off.

I just watched the videos and it blows my mind just how much tech this car has. We are talking Rolls Royce level stuff now. CPO will be a must!

The front end looks pretty good to me. I like that they got rid of the interior part of the headlights being narrower on this design. It looks more flowing. The side is a miss and the rear is a little boring. I get that the accent strip on the side is for flair but it just makes it look weird, especially with the chrome. There's so much technology I almost wonder if it is too much.

He does have a point about the weight saving thing. All the hassle and fireworks amounting to small savings which really could be achieved through Aluminium or even more intensive weight saving.

It seems to me that all the tech (which is amazing) has nullified the carbon core advances. When they designed the Mclearn F1 they focused on every item to achieve the mass target sought.

Now as to the rest of the car; well seeing it in person I call tell you it is impressive. Conservative maybe, but impressive and class leading. The quality of the finishes does not come through in the images and trumps Audi and Mercedes by a long margin.

Even when comparing the front ends side by side. Although the S class with the AMG kit looks much better than the s class here.
So true. The graphics on the instrument clusters, the lighting, the cushing on the upholstery, damping of the switches, all things which can only be experienced in person just add to this.

They only wanting thing which I feel was a missed opportunity is a more bold design. I truly wished for more "Vision luxury" to make it to this car. It would have been monumental. I hope now that with a younger CEO at the helm, BMW will be a bit more daring in design. 5 series perhaps?

No he doesn't as the Carbon Core is cleverly implemented in the new BMW 7er.
The main structural weight load bearing areas -the heaviest part of a car due to safety legislation requiring stiffer structures has been replaced with Carbon Fibre as well as an innovative and intelligent material mix which provides many benefits such as cost, weight, strength, rigidity, performance, ride, handling and dynamic agility.
But of most significance is what BMW will be able to filter downwards towards the 3er. The next 5er will be the next all new BMW to also feature a Carbon Core.
The 7er marks the beginnings of Projecti merging with the conventional brand.

What I like:
Interior is definitely a lot better than previous generation, however could have been executed a little better. I do see some cost cutting taking place - plastic bits in areas that people don't usually see. Tech is good, but as expected. Doesn't break new grounds.

What I don't like:
Exterior design is lacking creativity. It really is a lot like the previous generation with new headlights, tail lights and a hockey stick glued to the side. Not a fan of huge headlights and that grille.
Even the black radar strip between the grille ruins the look, especially for cars that won't be black. Could have been executed better. Headlights touching the grille really needs to be taken out of the design language, unless they find a better way to execute it!
Hockey stick is just wrong.
Rear is better than previous generation with nicer exhausts, but it still is too bland and the rear looks too high.
Interior design - the excess use of aluminum in the center dash is not necessarily eye pleasing.

Very likely standard but with the free option to paint the bit on the front fender in body color, so that only the chrome strip on the doors remains visible and prolongs the chrome strips on the lower front and back bumpers. I really love this piece of design though

Anyone else noticed that the '7' is now bigger than the other digits?!

Just as it appeared on the very first leaked photos

While previously the designations were showing 3 same size digits

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with making the BMW core models more legible to the general public (e.g. a 750Li is in fact the same model as, say, a 730d, i.e. a 7 Series to begin with), as BMWs core models are less easily identifiable as for example Audis which are unequivocally branded (A4, A5...). We should logically see this graphic subtlety extended to all future core models.

When you place similar pictures with the F01,02 chassis it is very similar and I didn't like that exterior. I did like the Vision Future Luxury Concept and wish they would have incorporated more of those body lines. And I love suicide doors! Better yet incorporate some of the I series designs. What have they been doing the last few years besides computer upgrades? Number one is looks and they failed on that one. Number two is drivability and performance and they always excel in that. I've been patiently awaiting for this and am very disappointed. I can't wait another seven years (I'm currently driving an 07 750i) and unless they improve on this design I'll have to look elsewhere.

It seems as though you guys in North America will be lucky to get the very high-end looking Laserlight headlight units as standard, just fitted with LED instead of laser.

Not the much more basic looking LED units the rest of the world will get as standard with the nice Laserlight as an extra cost option (identifiable to the blue lines)

LightS and mirrors sir! Sorry but this still does not justify nor answer the clear fact that the weight savings on the "core p" were nullified by increases elsewhere. It is like cost cutting in one area and spending more in another.

It would be nice to have the next 5' shed 200kg and be 200kg less than the car it replaces.

Street Theatre.
Watching everyone stare as the new 7er parks and reverses autonomously on the streets of Munich earlier.

Probably via all the added stuff... I am betting a no optioned car is going to be segment best, then even a highly optioned car is probably still going to be near the top as far light weight. Cut weight add in more stuff seems to be the growing tread, true weight loss no.

Negative Laser lights are not coming to the US, not even an option you can pick. They aren't approved for sale... our laws on certain issues are old and outdated. However we are getting Adaptive LEDs standard per the 2016 order guide.

After looking at the numerous pictures, it seems like the interior only looks nice with certain colours. The silver HVAC plate looks terrible and cheap with a light/white interior but looks very good with a darker interior. Also, at first sight, I thought the LED strips were cool but now I think they're overkill. Was it necessary to have that many LED strips?

Almost 200lbs weight saving is less than I had expected. Let's hope the car is received well. The design looks so similar IMO but I need to get used to it.
