M Sport Brakes

Is this a new option for 2017?? If someone could confirm it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes it's on the BMW USA Build your own right now
It used to be part of the M sport package now is NOT included and can come as a standalone option

It doesn't matter either way. A larger disc will not make you stop faster, because any ABS system is limited by the tire's friction circle. The stock brakes are perfectly capable of locking the wheels up, which means any larger braking moment will not yield better stopping performance without a change in the tire. This is one of the least understood aspects of these upgraded brakes. What you'll get is slightly reduced pedal effort across all braking ranges.

If you were to track the car, performance brakes matter. But you're not tracking a 7er. So you're paying top money for blue calipers.

They're better than the standard ones.
Depending on the exterior colour they might look pretty good too.

Depends on the model.

On 750i its the same disk (front 374x36 Rear 370x24)

On the 740i it goes from front 348x36 to 374x36 and Rear 345x24 to 370x24

I wonder if they'll come up with a Carbon Ceramic braking option for the M760Li xDrive?

In any case, they seem to be available on the S65 AMG Saloon and Coupe

Audi also has Carbon Ceramic option on the S8 Plus as well

I just completed a european delivery with the m-sport brake option. They look great! The brake setup on my 750 look identical to my 14 M5 competition package (Blue caliper with M on it). Sorry, I do not think I took a picture of it.

Hey, jorwig! I too am moving from an M5 to a 7 and wonder whether you'd comment on the pros/cons of 7 v. M5? Thanks!

If you read my post further up in the thread you will see they are only bigger on the smaller models like the 740i.
The 750i standard brakes are already the same large size

I like the front setup on the M brakes but not a fan of the 2 piece caliper after the upgrade. I wish BMW mad a single piston one piece caliper for it.

I am toying with a bracket setup to fit the Brembo G6 and G4 on my car and use the Tesla style EPC from brembo as well.

Me and my buddy have 3D printed a few sets of bracket and should be finally able to make these fit safely and correctly.

Ceramic coated the set last week for extra protection.
