How important is…
…my engine throwing a “one time fault for vanos solenoid”.
Dealer wasn’t *that* concerned. Said they reprogrammed and adjusted the software. I’m not thrilled about that answer. Car is under CPO warranty until October. I know Vanos issues with prior BMW V8’s were a headache. Tech people - thoughts? |

I once went through VANOS problems on an M5. As I understand these codes, generally speaking the condition is either continuous or happens more than once before it will turn on the CEL. So it's not really a "one time fault". But I could be wrong.
On the other hand, I can't tell you how many times I've had a fault pop up on the screen for one thing or another that never happens again. So it's totally reasonable to wait for a return engagement, and if that happens, address the issue then. As long as you have good documentation (as you do) that it happened while under warranty and was not addressed, and it happens again, you have a pretty good shot at getting them to fix it gratis. Good luck.
