I just got my blendmount and hoping to install this weekend. Did you watch any YouTube tutorial videos before installing? Or did you just wing it on the hardwire job? |

Also, figured out wire colors and pins via this thread: https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/w...#post-13655426 |

The video and the thread were super helpful! It looks like I need to buy a mirror tap setup to connect the detector with rj 11 on one end and pins to put into the wiring harness on the other. Did you buy a particular brand?

I used Amazon and laid under $20. Worked like a charm. All the same. Just make sure to get the one that has different size pins.

Finally finished the Blendmount-V1Gen2 project… an electrical engineer friend who helped with the project recommended that I drive around for awhile with it installed before I replace the interior trim pieces just in case the electrical connections work their way loose from bumps or vibrations. I had a big of a tough time getting those trim pieces off initially so I readily agreed. Here's the finished look.

pmac23 Looks good!
Did you have to tape up the gesture control sensor area? I did. Also, I opted to bring the wire out from the trim differently than your setup... Lastly, I zip tied the mirror tap wires to the respective harness wires as well as zip tied the mirror tap shielded cable to the harness cable. |
