Not the biggest fan. My favourite thing about cars like the 7 series and the S class is how plush they feel and how there's so much detail. With EVs, it seems like everything is becoming increasingly bland much like the EQS and even the new S class to an extent, which admittedly I like a lot more than the iX and EQS. More detail so that the screens don't look like an afterthought would be great IMO.

Looks horrible. Looks like something you would find on an entry level car.

I thought the same when I saw the iX in person - interior was all black and looked like it belonged in a £30k SUV - bland and not luxury by any means.

When I saw iX interior, my first question to my friends at BMW was "will the new 7 also feature the same design" with of course adding few lines like "as I don't see me buying a car that has its cheapest China-sourced screens hammered to the dash with some nails". The response was imminent: "of course that is not the case, the screens are coming from Vietnam!"
Interior of 7 series should have more "premium" styling elements, very nice lightning effects and that damn square steering wheel. What I did like about this interior (was able to get into iX some time ago just before the official demo at my local dealer) was that sound quality of Harman Cardon setup: was very close to Bowers&Wilkins setups I own. I did not like the choppy BMW OS, but I believe it's because I got used to Apple-smoooth interfaces and when I see jerky scrolling I see it immediately. Still the exterior design with split headlights is great IMO. |

That is a stupid design by BMW... As I commented on the i4 that was shown few days ago on the main page of the forum, lately the BMW engineers are coming out with stupid and ridiculous ideas/design (both interior and exterior). If they keep going at this rate, Audi and Mercedes is going to eat BMW's breakfast, lunch and dinner. That instrument cluster looks like someone taped it with crazy glue to the dashboard. I actually have seen one in person at the dealer, it looks uglier than the pictures.
BMW always been known for their sporty and great dashboard/cockpit design. Car manufactures use to copy their designs. With this STUPID look, the car lost it's shortness, elegance and everything else one can name in the book!!! They want to put this big display, fine, why not build a dashboard around it and give it some style rather than make it look like it was an after thought. Serially BMW designers should go and learn from Audi and BMW on how to create new ideas and design sporty looking cars. Based on the new renders of the 7 series, I made my mind to wait for the 2023 M550 but if the dash is going to look like this stupid one, I think I'm existing BMW after two decades for good. What a shame BMW for what you are doing to your cars. I hope someone from BMW Germany or NA is on this board reading these messages.... |

Not for Audi. Have you seen the new Audi RS e-tron GT? It's such a beauty with elegance/sporty design. BMW should send their engineers to Audi, Prorche and Mercedes for a crash course on designing cars...

I generally agree with the negative comments but nobody knows for sure whether the new 7 is going to have this display so there is no point in hand-wringing. I suspect (but obviously do not know) that they would not simply drop an iX display into the flagship. It is supposed to be revealed in April, so we will know soon enough.

All these pictures of the ix interior is just NO and knowing that this style is coming to the 7 series is a serious disappointment. I agree with many of the complaints.
Getting a flagship vehicle ought to mean exactly that. Stylistically, I do not want to see the same interior I see in a entry level econo-budget cars. It is what makes me dislike the new S class, despite the vehicle being superior from the previous generation model. I fear this is what will make me dislike the new 7s as well. I just don't understand why they cannot make luxury feeling interiors like the Flying Spur or the S class from 2014-2020. Those actually create a space that feels much different and special compared to these new lack-ury interiors they are making now.

I saw the i4 IRL today at the dealer, and yeah, I don't care for it either. And look closely at the first pic in this thread. That's the new, soon-to-be-famous faux grill. It's not a real grill. It's a picture of a grill. Looks kind of stupid when you're 2 feet away. If it's fake, then why does it need to be so huge!!?!?!?
