m760 -- Purchasing Advice
Can ya'll chime in if the m760 (18-19) is a good buy? Any common issues I should keep an eye out for? And which specific packages are an absolute must?
I currently have a '11 750il, and on her last leg. Looking for the same quality ride but with more cylinders. Does anyone have any clips of their exhaust upgraded, perhaps with Akra/FI (or similar) + catless/hiflow cat paired with the v12? Thanks for the help! H |

Other than Merino leather, we get the rest as standard over here.
Other than Executive Lounge in the back (which you need to want or not want) I think you can’t go far wrong on options. |

So here are the considerations:
-v12 being sunset -good gap between F01's to the new 22's + i7's -- i.e there's been 2 refreshes since F01 series which makes it an economical bargain -Has the best tech (as std) vs. the lower classes in the series -v12 will be effortless to gain acceleration momentum vs. a high strung v8 (alpina) -sleeper until you hear the car -- my plan is to try to nab an aftermarket exhaust (akra/FI/soul/activ etc.), and maybe go as far as a high flow cat set up -I like the bench set up vs the executive lounge -- but rare finds so may help with resale? -doesn't have the hideous new revised grills. All these considerations give the m760 an edge over the s8 & s65. Ideally, an '18 s65 would be perfect, but they haven't come down sub 100K yet. What are your thoughts? H |

I agree with everything said about the must-haves, make sure you get driving assist and dynamic cruise (I think it is rolled into Executive drive package).
have my 2018 since September 1, 2021. Love the holy F out of it. Sold a Jag F-type R when it showed up, (it was going to go anyway, but I now drive the 7 when I miss the Jag) That should tell you something (not a 1-1 replacement for the Jag acceleration, but--wait, there's more). I have owned two E66 76Lis and dreamed of when the 7 would get an M badge. Have not been disappointed. I held out for one with Remote Park, just for fun. I don't even take the huge touch-screen fob with me anywhere where I could remote park. I did not get night vision. Wish I did, because I do live a bit rural. Why buy V12 vs a V-8? A = Torque. That is why. And a great-sounding motor at revs. I have not seen one... not even one aftermarket exhaust for the V12. When I get my shop set up, I will try to make one for my own amusement, like I did for my older cars. I have Executive lounge everything in the back. Depends on your situation. Have one wife, one kid, and occasionally, one mother-in law staying with us. Fits us perfectly. Otherwise, wife and kid sit in back and lounge while I drive places. Because of the two older 760s, they are used to roller blinds, adjustable rear seats, etc. The people in the back do use massage and heat and cooling seats. The tablet and rear screens? not so much, they are usually buried in their own iOS devices. I am not sure if you can get Executive rear seating in the Alpina? I "think" you can with an 750? (did not bother to look, went straight for V12). suggest: buy a 2017 or 2018, unless you "have" to have the new speedo cluster. $10s of thousands less than a 2019 or later, and the same engine and interior, with likely similar miles. Also, get all the options you can, because Merino leather alone was what? $5k option? Now it is a wash. You basically get it for free. Same for Executive rear lounge and seats. Huge discount over new. Now, to power. Besides it's normal performance, which was already great for a 5000 lb car, I have the Noelle Tune. Love it. Am working on some before and after Dragy runs. Right now, I am clocking basically around 2 tenths, give or take, in each custom acceleration bracket I created on the Dragy. like 20-40, 40-60, 60-80 MPH, etc. 2 tenths does not sound like much, but you can really feel it. I reccomend running each VIN you see through https://www.mdecoder.com, and comparing to one with all the features on earth. I have a VIN of a car I passed on, due to its condition, but it has basically everything, except "Smoker's Package". I call it "The Rosetta Stone Car" because it is like a template for all 2017-2018 M760i features. I used it to compare to all other cars when I was shopping. They all had less than this one did. I still use it to shop for 2017-2018 M760is, because if I see a particular color combo pop up, I am likely to buy it and sell mine. Not crazy about my Grigio Teleso Perl paint. PM me if you want me to share the VIN with you. it was last for sale in Ohio. If you run out of VINs on mdecoder.com, use outvin.com, it is a pay service, and it is legit. I can never shop for a car without a decoder. Oh and lastly, have a great time shopping and do NOT, I repeat, do NOT skimp on the options you must have. There's got to be at least 60 of these things for sale, used in the US right now. My local dealer has two new 2022s for sale. If you are willing to look thru Yelp and hire a car inspector that is local to where the car is, and pay them $300 or whatever to smell it for cigarette smoke and take close up pictures of all the flaws, and pay about $2k for shipping, you can have exactly what you want. The procedure is outlined in several YouTube videos online. If you get a 2017 or 2018 make sure you watch a video from that year, the later years even have memory, where it an drive around autonomously thru the parking lot. Earlier ones cannot. “Remote parking” is where you can actually use your touchscreen remote key fob ( no you cannot add this to the car later, I checked, the feature has to come with the car) and it will pull straight into or out of a space with you OUT of the car only. If your car has remote parking but you did not get the fob, you can get one from BMW and open your wallet for about $1500, including programming. Last edited by mws; 04-24-2022 at 12:32 PM.. |

The option is 05DV. It will steer a bit on the way out of a space to navigate clear of things.
Mine came with no Display Key, but I got them to source one. They cost a bit less than that in the U.K. You can pair it to the car yourself, but it must be a new unused key. I think I’m more likely to use it whilst travelling. No use for normal day to day. We don’t even have the remote starting here. |

V12. There is no substitute.
The original question was, is it a good buy? I was looking for one before I got the B7, and they are hard to find if you, like me, want one with low miles and no accidents. The ones that I found were expensive, and so I bought the B7 instead.

I bought my ‘18 M760i as a CPO last September. I absolutely love it. I had my heart set on an Alpina B7 for the longest time, but I saw the M760 up close when I went to Spartansburg to pick up my wife’s car. Aventurin Red. I fell hard. And haven’t stop falling since. I say go for it over the B7.

Please do shoot me the vin rubric, that would be helpful. Lastly, what example on the market, as we speak today, would be a good buy? i.e, looking for color combo + options + max mileage willing to purchase (mine is below 15K) + budget of 100K + whether it's worth spending the extra $ for a '19 vs. '18. Hardest option to find - NVision |

I bought a 2018 used in January. All G11/12 series in USA are LWB (G12) AFAIK. My car is Azurite Black metallic (think Carbon Black) with night vision and I think every singe option offered in 2018, 9K miles, below $100K (barely) if you are interested. PM me.

Yes. I was used to the world of the old E66 and E65 760s when I started shopping for this and had to double, and triple verify it was true that ALL M760is are long wheelbase (LWB). That true, regardless of the fact they are badged "M760Li" in Canada and Europe. |

if you wait a bit you might do even better on the pricing for a used one... I tried to bring this up before. Unless there's a real cool option on 2019 you have to have, I would shoot for a 2017 first, then move to 2018s. For me, there is nothing on a 2019 I have to have besides maybe a years worth of factory warranty that you pay $10-15k more for, and may never use. If you have $100k to blow, and like the later model speedo (and parking options), then maybe consider a 2020 or later. I think you will find a 2017, certainly a 2018 with 15k miles, after some patience, and easily, in the $80-85k region, max. Black on black is the most common, they all have to compete with each other, to sell their cars. I think they should be discounted the most. I have done my time with black on back. I am done. Yes, Night vision be hard to find.... |

Chiming in to say that after considering one for a couple years, I finally pulled the trigger on an '18 M760 this past weekend, every option except for NV - wish it had it, but not necessary. Maybe a future retrofit...
It's Frozen Dark Brown Metallic/Tartufo...a combo I had never seen until 3 in this spec came up for sale all within a few week's time, at various places around the country. Almost always, I see the frozen brown cars with the smoke white or caramel interiors...was always hopeful that one just like this existed somewhere in the wild. Surprised that 3 do, to be honest. For me, the general guidelines were "most/all options, Tartufo interior, interesting paint color" - I can't stand black/black, black/white, white/black, or any other common/boring (no offense) color combinations. Seems most in the US are very well optioned, few are lightly optioned but you do see the occasional car that has a head-scratching omission here or there. Another thing I was firm on (but due to rarity, didn't really have to worry about) - no full executive lounge rear seat package. I'm buying the car to drive, not to be driven in. I don't really like the way the rear center console looks, and I'm not interested in nuking most of the luxury functionality of the front passenger seat just for a rear seat party trick that will get used maybe 5 times at most for the duration of my ownership. Almost all of the time, it will be either me or me and one other person in the car, with occasional passengers in the rear. They will have to slum it without the center console tables and footrest. Very excited to pick it up, hopefully this weekend. The first time I drove it, I knew I had to have it. It was exactly as good as I hoped it would be, maybe even better. I too was waiting for facelift S65s to come down, but that's seemingly never happening. And the pre-facelift cars are still ridiculous expensive, and are all-around inferior cars to the M760, despite how cool they are. Have always wanted a V12 AMG but will have to scratch that itch at a later time. For now I think the M760i might be one of the best all-around cars on sale today, shame it won't be much longer. |

I have been scouring the internet for these m760, but no luck. I really like this frozen grey with red interior out in VA. Good miles, perhaps all the options except NV, and I am with you 100% -- I do not need the rear executive lounge. Prefer fitting three/four pppl in the back vs. only 2. Any mods scheduled? Let's see some pics of all of your m760's as well!! |
