But....
Mercedes has had 360 degree view for a long time. Lane departure sure isn't new... The only thing I see is remote control parking. |

I have two problems with that remote control parking.
1. My drive way is upside down L shape. It seems to me that the remote can only make it come out straight from the garage. 2. Parking in tight space wont be a problem for me with that feature, but what about the other cars next to my car? They cant get in to their vehicle! It may increase more chance of my car getting door ding from them. Its not a good etiquette to park too closely either |

Less-than-subtle hint from BMW that these assists are for old people. I hear the LCI is bringing Active Depends Monitoring and can find your lost display keys

I hope there's more cool stuff that they are simply not releasing because if this is the best its got... its pretty weak! Looks is weak, technology??... It cant be just me that keeps looking at all these videos waiting for something awesome to show up but keeps getting disappointed by the same old laim tricks...

Not the 360 degrees surround view is new, but that you can change the point of view / move the point of view around the car.
Which is quite sexy and requires a lot of programming in the background, I'm sure. |

Correct. "Top View and Surround Cameras" which been on BMW since I believe 2011 featured on the F10 have been now upgraded to the 360 Surround view, which is about, IMO, 5 times better than what is currently offered on all lines. The 360 view is great and will be well accepted. Even if Merc had it before 2011, it was and will never be as crystal clear as BMW's

Just bought a 2016 AMG C63S loaded to add to our BMW collection. The AMG has all this technology except for the remote parking as you stated. The lane keeping assist actually steers the car back into that lane. Scared me at first. The part that I really like is what MB calls the Distronic Plus where the car actually brake for you in a near collision, and it senses if you will get rear ended and prepares the car for it. Amazing tech and I'm a little surprised that it took BMW this long. Just bought a new i8 too and some of this tech is in that car not all. Getting closer to self driving cars......

the car is simply amazing. thousands of miles ahead of F01. Yes, some of the tech has been around by Benz, but its easier to use, more intuitive and fresher.
Lane keeping assist is very cool and works well, especially coupled with ACC. Only downside is it will shut off (audible and visual alert) if heavy tree shade covers your lane. -Gesture controls are very cool (very gadget-y). Volume works best and easy, 3d surround view takes some practice. -Obviously USA is not getting laser headlights or remote parking (thanks obama.....) -Only got to drive 750, but the thing pulls (very close to M5). new adaptive mode is okay, but not sure if it works better coupled with autobahn pkg (my car didnt have that). (plus i really just kept it in sport anyway) -Rear luxury seating is very cool. Definitely keeps people busy for long trips. Tablet is cool (also gadget-y), little unclear what will happen if (when) it gets outdated or breaks. -tablet and display key are like cell phones (not covered under warranty). -theres loads more....overall very impressed with features and handling -ps - space saver spare cuts your trunk in half (height wise) |
