Lightbulb 2022 7 Series (G70) Spy Pics / Video & Info - Production Dates, Models, Features

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Latest Details (from the Future BMW model information thread):

G70/G73 7er
  • G73 is the armored version, starting production in 11/23.
  • Will introduce the TÜ2 generation of B58 engine.
  • Production 07/22-06/29 with LCI in 03/26
  • Intro models: worldwide 735i (B58U2, 282hp), 740i (B58M2, 370hp), 760ix (S68, 535hp), i7 xDrive50 (535hp); US 740i, 760ix, i7 xDrive50.
  • 760ix is interesting in that it doesn't have an M in its name but will be offered with the usual list of M Performance parts (steering wheel, body bits, suspension, etc.) as standard.
  • Standard air suspension, soft close doors, B&W audio. Notable options:
    • Choice of M Sport or Luxury interior and exterior design
    • Fully automatic doors like in the new Phantom
    • Sky Lounge roof
    • Totally new headlights, with the same "Iconic Glow" designation as the X6 grille. That grille will be available too of course.
    • Rear seats equal in comfort to the front ones (heating/ventilation, massaging) in Executive Lounge configuration, plus rear entertainment that's better than the old "shut up, here's an iPad screen in the headrest for you".
    • Same "Natural Interaction" thing as in iX.
    • Even more better version of B&W audio.
    • A new driver assist package called "Motorway assistant".
    • A whole bunch of BMW Individual customizations.
  • 11/22: worldwide 735dx (B57, 295hp), 745ex (B58U2 + EM = 480hp), M750ex (B58M2 + EM = 565hp); US 745ex
  • 07/23: Worldwide and US 740ix, i7 M60.
  • Compared to the regular 7 series, i7 M60 includes as standard 21" wheels, active steering, multifunction seats throughout the cabin, the usual M trim pieces inside and outside, and a model-exclusive M performance package option.
  • Possible additional models: 735d, i7 eDrive45, i7 M60

Updated December 3, 2021:

Nope. V12 is pretty much reserved for RR. The M60 is a trim of the i7, so all electric but most performance. The M750e will be an interesting one as it could be an electrified V8, or a possibility of a further electrified version of the I6 in the 745e, although I'm assuming as of now its the former and not the latter.

Ah, thank you. In my defence just the way it looked in my phone. Couldn't really believe it would make it through.

M750e has me intrigued, Porsche has hybrid V8s and it would be awesome if BMW had one too.

I presume you're right. The S63 will get electrified in the new iteration of the M5 to level with the MB GT73 in a couple of years. Would make perfect sense to pair all this also with the N63, since it will not increase their development cost in an M750e/M550e.
Can't wait to read the monster specs of these new giants to be build to save the planet! I'd like a green car also...

From the BMW Blog:

Rumor is that we will get two M Performance models and they will be both electrified. The first one will be the BMW M750e which will be a plug-in hybrid using a 3.0 liter straight-six petrol engine combined with an electric motor for a total output of over 500 HP. Think of it as a replacement for the current BMW 750i if you will, with that beautiful 4.4-liter twin-turbo 530 HP V8 under the hood.

Interesting, I could definitely see this happening. Perhaps they will make the V8 exclusive to M.

So it's a 745e with a stronger e-engine. This only makes clear that ICE really is fast on its way out real life and into history. A bit sad nevertheless. All this technology, all this engineering to get more air in the engine, have a higher compression ratio, make rotational parts really light to reduce inertion, etc.... all rendered obsolete very soon.

I'm confused. Isn't this refresher rather early? Feels just like yesterday they released the last 7 series. Boy time flies!

MB significantly upped the Game with their new S and the tech.

BMW will need to hit a home run just to catch up. From everyting I'm seeing BMW is cloning the previous gen S class - 2 screen system. Way behind imo

Truth be told I'd never buy a 7 over an S. MB is king in that space

The 7 used to be the sporty option but it's not sporty at all anymore anyway

However it’s propelled let’s hope it looks good. Concerned about the headlights. Some of BMW’s designs lately have been puzzling.

G11 production is July 2015 - June 2022. It's a very typical seven year cycle.

Also, once the G26 4GC and G42 2er Coupe release this July, every RWD BMW model will have moved to CLAR. So, it's time for the CLAR generation two to begin.

Yes, this is very likely the case, but it's important to remember that not all G70 models are known yet, so we can't be certain that a V8 will be left out of the lineup. While a non-hybridized V8 is indeed unlikely, BMW may yet intend to build an N68 counterpart to the upcoming electrified S68 M engine. Especially when it comes to the next generation X7 (a product which sells in far greater numbers than the 7 Series), it's not immediately clear that an M50e I6 PHEV model can adequately fill the hole left by removing the M50i V8 model. While it's true that the S68 could theoretically take over in that roll, that would likely bump the price significantly. In any case, if the next X7 does get a V8, it opens up the possibility for it to be shared with the G70.
