When BMW will fire designers, that car is horrible like iX.

The ambient lighting looks cool, but I just can't with those grills.

The split headlights were first previewed with the Mille Miglia concept in 2006

Amazing how long some of these features take to trickle down to production products.

Very excited to see the final reveal of the new 7, all the latest BMWs are at the top of their game, looking forward to the 7 coming out on top in its class.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but for those of you who don't like the grille size or the look, let me ask you, are you in the market for this car?

This car is designed to appeal to people in the market for a $110K - $150K car. That's why it looks like a baby Rolls-Royce.

That's what people in the market for this kind of car are looking for. Of course the whole thing is huge, it's supposed to be. It's the big daddy flagship impose-mobile. These buyers want large grilles, not small demure styling. If you sept $130K on a car, you want it to look like you spent $130K on a car. You might think you wouldn't want that, but that's a hypothetical. 9 times out of 10, if you actually were preparing to put up that kind of money, I bet your tune would change.

BMW's designers and marketing teams aren't dummies, they know that's what this clientele wants. Case in point, I'm a 7-Series owner, and I like this so far.

I'm sure there are people who are in the market for this who don't like it, that's perfectly plausible, that's always going to happen. And if you aren't in the market for this car, and you don't like the styling, that's still a perfectly valid opinion to have, but that also says to me that BMW's marketing and design team has done its job.

In fact this may be my signal that it's time to retire from selling what used to be BMWs.

But, to be clear, this is not intended to appeal to me. I'm not a buyer for a $100,000 sedan, and I'm not Chinese, Russian, or Saudi by heritage. Should translate fairly easily to a new Rolls-Royce series, if that's any consolation. It's almost as if BMW is intentionally killing off what's left of their sedan sales in favor of SUVs. Maybe a good oil crisis can reverse that, once again?
I too have never bought a new BMW, as I have not been able to afford a brand new one.
I was looking to purchase one after graduating med school. There is nothing in their lineup, save for the M340i, G30, and 840i, which is both technically and visually appealing.

If this design language is what they intend to use going forward, I'll happily purchase a car which isn't downright ugly, like an Audi, Mercedes, or Porsche. With the coming transition to electric, BMWs straight 6 advantage will be nullified…

I am 100% in the market for a vehicle like this. My Cayenne was $115k, and I am looking at Panamera and Taycan builds that top out at $151k. I will reserve judgement, but the enhanced pictures aren't really my cup of tea. The XM is a mess, the iX has grown on me a little, but I need to see one in person. Not everyone who can afford this type of vehicle wants flashy, look at me cars, I will wait for full reveal before writing it off, but right now, it would be a pass from me.

Why is it squinting at me?

Don't mind the grille but the headlights don't go well with it.

Looks interesting. Slowly morphing all of their cars into Vision Next 100 design/XM style.

Pretty sure that's the automatic door close control on the passenger side dash?

I actually like the slim headlight look on this new 7 and the iX. It looks sleek and modern to me.

100% that's plausible. It sounds like you're more in to high-performance SUVs and sports cars that happen to have 4 doors, rather than ultra luxo-missiles, and the design language on this 7 is the latter.

Even if you are into luxury-first cars, not everyone wants flashy, and I think in this segment the Audi A8 is the most understated option. I just happen to think that's not the most common opinion for buyers in this price range.

As an owner of a flagship luxury sedan that has sophisticated and elegant styling cues (obviously making me the target demographic for this car) I would never consider buying a sedan with a grille that would look overwhelming on a full size pickup like a Toyota Tundra.
