iDrive Crashing?
I saw a similar thread in the 3er forum, but haven't come across anything here.
A few time a month, our Nav crashes and reboots. When it happens, it will do it continuously - every 4 minutes - until the car is powered off. At first I thought it was happening when we ran out of data on the car's WiFi, but it has crashed a few times shortly after data has renewed. The car is a 2016 750xi, Canadian Spec M-Sport, new to me last October. It has been into the dealer 3 times for this. Each time they have re-flashed the software, and sent me on my way. When I picked up the car today, they blamed my phone (iPhone X, ios 12.2), because they couldn't find anything wrong with the car. I was not happy. I see the Nav version is 2016-01. That doesn't sound like an update to me! Some of the updates mentioned in the 3er forum sound like they cause crashes. I'm wondering if anyone else is on this Nav version, and if anyone is experiencing crashes. Thanks for checking. Rob |

Exact same car and issue but it only crashes when in CarPlay and using Waze. Stopped using waze and it stopped crashing.
Wonder if an app is causing yours to crash. |

Just an FYI...your navigation map app is nots what's running all the things your iDrive does or operates. Just like WAZE is an app on your phone...your nav map data is similar. You can upgrade your navigation map data to the 2019 maps...and that won't change your iDrive's firmware. Although it will update your maps, street data, and POI (points of interests), etc.
