Finally got a BMW to my name
Hello everybody! I'm happy to share that I recently picked up a new '19 740i at a steal of a deal. The car is a singapore gray on ivory leather M-Sport, with panoramic led sky lounge, upgraded wheels, blacked out lines and a sprinkle of carbon fiber.
So far, I'm in love with this vehicle! I've been reading the forum a bit, but still had a few questions. -Do you folks have experience with racechip vs dinan vs other plug in performance boosters? are they reliable? -is OBDLink MX+ a plug and play device for bimmercode? how does that compare to bimmerlink? I used the search function but not too familiar with the coding jargon I'm interested in dvd in motion, closing truck with key fob, removing disclaimers, remembering auto start/stop options, maybe even an M style intro screen. -I read that ebay is a good place to find carbon fiber spoiler lips; how about front bumper lip? Thank you all! Cheers! |

OBDLink MX+ is definitely the one you want, super easy plug and play. Bimmercode is the app you want for coding. Bimmerlink (same developer) is mainly for getting readings from sensors. It also is the app that allows you to open the exhaust flaps, and register a new battery. So ideally you want both apps, but Bimmercode is the one for the actual coding. Other OBD readers may work for some coding, but this reader lets you do all of the features available in Bimmercode.

Does the app start with default features then let you edit the ones you want? Or does it change a buncha stuff from the get go |

Except, unless they've updated the apps, the OBDLink MX+ doesn't work with both Bimmercode and Bimmerlink. At least that was my experience when I downloaded the two apps about a month ago. I can't remember which one worked, but I think it was Bimmercode. It's kind of ridiculous how every app seems to have a different set of OBD connectors that they will work with. And then you have the Carly app which requires you to buy a proprietary connector from them to get it to work.

I have OBDlinkmx+, unicarscan and Veepeak OBd modules. To fully access all computers, only OBDlinkMx+ and UniCarScan work. But then the UniCarScan is the only module compatible with both BimmerCode and BimmerLink apps. Bimmercode cant open exhaust flaps, that feature is only in BimmerLink. So you know, it only keeps exhaust flaps open if you have app open in your phone and connected via OBD module. If you open exhaust flaps, then disconnect app and module, flaps will stay open for 15 minutes then go back to their auto programming. OBDlink module easily available on amazon and you can get it fast, i purchased the UniCarScan module through a link to a store in the BimmerCode App. It came from LATVIA, but came with their $15 International shipping option. Took about 20-30 days to arrive to Canada. Bimmerlink app is pretty cool but lil annoying that it does not keep exhaust flaps open unless connected to the app. Hope this info helpful. DMAX

Gorgeous 7! I'm gonna miss the pre-lci design, had the right balance of elegance and sport.
