Display Key

Question. I have a 2016 750 M-Sport and it didn't come with a display key. When I traded in my original 2016 750(preferred the M-sport) it didn't dawn on me that I didn't have a display key like my original one.

I was told I could buy a used one from another 750 and have it reprogrammed to my 750? Is that possible?

Thanks

If my memeory is right, you cannot reprogram a used key. The keys come from the factory mated to a specific VIN. You can order one but it will have to come from BMW to a dealer, dealer will require proof of ownership etc. IMHO the only practical use for the display key is remote parking. If you do not have that option, there is nothing in the display key that can't be done on the phone app.

Make sure to check inside your owners manual. That is where I found mine, and if I did not see it in there my car could have easily been stolen had I left my doors unlocked by accident.

2016s didn't come standard with the display key. Check your option list first.
But I'm actually a little curious about that...
These are not like the normal keys, since they have to "fixed key" that needs to be fitted to the car it's all programming it could in theory be done... Im very curious... I remember a guy retrofitting it to an I8 a while back.

Isn't the display key touch screen rather slow to inputs?

Yes, in a word. Not very responsive compared to say a smart phone, it does work but you have to be more patient between swipes and more deliberate in the movement.
