Depends on which state. We should also budget to include their Rascal.

Would love a vert Hellcat to go with my Charger Hellcat, but no way is a Hellcat worth the $90-100k new costs. Forget about adding the $50k+ or whatever to have the vert conversion done on top. LOL GTFO

I disagree, strongly, with this notion that EVs have ruined everything because of their acceleration. MAN, hell NO!!!

Straight line speed is just one element. Sound is very important to a LOT of people. I wouldn't take a Tesla Plaid unless you paid me to get one. I'd pay for a high revving, fast car that looks great and makes great noise, even if it couldn't compete with a Plaid in a drag race.

I agree. But I suspect sooner or later the EV world will start putting external surround sound speakers pumping out whatever engine sound you want.

Something like this aftermarket addon... lol.

EDIT: It looks like dodge did add external sound!

I4 M50 weighs 5,018 lbs. Taycan Turbo S weighs 5,101 lbs.

A Dodge EV with a battery pack capacity that can produce Hellcat+ hp is going to be a porker. Realistically, 600-700lbs more than a Hellcat.

I mean, it's hard to predict how much it will weigh since it's going to be a bespoke platform, so it should do better than i4, but I do think given the price bracket you are likely correct it will be heavier than those. Still, if a Hellcat is 5500-5600 lbs, is that going to have a negative impact? It was already a pig and now the weight is at the very bottom of the car.

Weight isn't a factor when people want to go fast STRAIGHT.

I would say 90% of real world owners modify, buy, or want to make their car fast in a STRAIGHT line. Let's not pretend it's all about taking corners when almost everyone who buys performance cars never take their car to the track. Some do, most don't. The thrill of driving something fast everyday means a lot to a car purchase.

Autoglory just posted a video today of a model x plaid absolutely walking a stock mclaren 720S.

That SUV weighs 5,400lbs. And a 720S weighs 3200lbs?

And the model x still beat it easily.

EV is the future whether we all agree or not. Might as well embrace this movement.

I get the Hellcat is a boat and will always be one. I don't expect Dodge to become lightweight chassis builder. But it doesn't have to be a hellcat. That is just the current state of battery tech. To get the hp numbers of high hp ice, you need minimum 95kwh battery pack. With that size pack comes a lot of weight. There isn't an EV on the market with over 300hp, with a battery pack smaller than 75kwh. That is a 1,000lbs+ pack alone. Solid state battery tech will eventually move things forward. Lets just say the battery tech doesn't exist for Porsche to build an EV with the power of 992 Turbo S and weigh in at 3600lbs. EV's with true driving dynamics of an ice car are more than a decade away.

Yeah, but we all know that the only thing worse than no noise is fake noise.

This is hilarious.

It took 6 people in the plaid vs 720S with just the driver for the 720S to barely win.
