Let me know what you think of my redesign...

Although I'm getting a bit more used to the design, I still don't think it is a success. Obviously the front end is up for discussion, but the rear, with the licence plate placed on the bumper, and the huge BMW logo, imo just feels unnatural.

Here's how I think it could look like:

As a matter of fact Mr. Stephenson shares my view on the placement of the license plate...

Looks great!! Would love to see what it looks like with the headlights adjusted like you did, but with the original grill.

Looks good, I think its the aspect ratio that throws everyone off. As long as it is wider than than it is tall, the horizontal shape still harkens to BMWs previous design language. But as soon as it becomes more vertical like the G80 and the G70 (each grill, not the whole thing) it starts to look odd.

Yes, the vertical design is really something that disappeared in the 40s and doesn't suit modern cars very well. I kinda get that BMW wants to give their high end models a more majestic look, but they should keep that design language for the Rolls Royce models. The 7 Series should still look a bit sporty yet constrained imho. It should also be immediately recognizable as a BMW (which isn't the case for the back end, I think).

I like your redesign a lot. But I also like what BMW has done. I just think you improved on it.

Honestly that would have been great! Just that small lowering of the LED's closer to the actual head lights makes the car look more aggressive and acceptable.

iPhil, your render is a MASSIVE improvement over what actually BMW did.

That was indeed the intention. A few small steps to improve the design, but one giant leap for how the car looks...

You've transformed the front. It's now beautiful.

The back however, though improved, still needs further work. For some reason, the rear reminds me of a 1990s Peugeot. Horrendous !
