Wheel Corrosion Pic - WHAT THE F - Now what?

I had four diamond cut refurbished by BMW around 18 months ago.

Haven't really been anywhere.

The "corrosion" around the centre caps was not there before the refurb I can recall that much.

Any advice or thoughts?

I would start by going back to the BMW dealer who refurbed them for you - be interesting to understand if it was the dealers own bodyshop or whether they outsourced, as if done properly, they should not be corroding that soon. I had it on a prior Audi, and they just refurbed, and was fine, but it did cost them £100 per wheel, rather than the £65 you can get if you shop around.

According to Platinum Wheels in Swindon they say:

"We only give 6 months warranty on diamond cut wheels as if the lacquer chips moisture gets under the lacquer then the wheel will oxidize on the diamond cut part".

I had the wheels done at BMW - and they have not yet replied to me about their policy on repairs.

I would have expected a BMW dealer to give either 12 or 24 months on any repairs they undertake, so possible you might be pushing it at 18 months, but I would not have expected them to totally abandon you. I would challenge that it was repaired correctly, as all 4 have failed, it is not just one that had been chipped. Mine are 4 years old and still immaculate.

If you don’t get the desired response, I would then call BMW customer services, and calmly make you case that it is not what you expect, and they may be more reasonable and support the dealer to resolve.

I had an issue last year with the first renewal of the connected drive services at 3 years old, as they had gotten out of sync, and they just funded a free year of full service for me, incl concierge.

I had a similar issue with my g30, but it was 8 months outside warranty, never refurbished completely original four wheels. BMW said they would replace them and i would have to pay.
