Mac Mini - Nothing is ever simple :(
So, yesterday i upgraded to a MacBook Pro with Retina screen, love the thing. Never had a laptop before and always liked the MacBook's so thought id treat myself.
After a bit of compatibility issues with an external hard drive we use in the house id copied all my films and music from the MacMini onto the MacBook. The plan was to then format the mini and reinstall the OS so its ready to sell for a bit of beer money for my leaving do over in Dublin next weekend. Did a bit of research and followed a guide...seemed simple enough. Formatted the hard drive with the disk utility. BTW its OS X Lion, so it has a start up partition which carries a bootable version of the OS for this very reason. Once formatted, it then rebooted with the startup screen giving the option to install a fresh version of Lion. Went through the process of authorisation by entering my iTunes etc, and it gives the popup "Temporarily Unavailable" Noooooooooooooooooooo! Anyone help?! |

Try again. If it is booting up and accepting your iTunes etc then it is not fully screwed. It may genuinely be 'temporarily unavailable' Apple have to roll out releases and things just the same as everyone else which sometimes means down time.
Alternatively, as it's a Mac, just take a hammer to it. Maybe I am bias |

Pffffft. Internet recovery should help you. Plug your Mac Mini into your router via ethernet if you can, turn it off, then on and immediately press CMD and R, as per http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT4718
This will redownload everything from scratch |

If you have another mac, you can download and install the latest OS on a memory stick and install from that.
Google it.

Op has another Mac.. Bought a macbook. Just torrent a lion or mountain lion and get a USB installer.. Go to.
If not.. Internet recovery as others mentioned works fine. Just plug in a Ethernet cable if your WiFi isn't working. Internet recovery via Ethernet is much faster than eifi anyway! |

As per Jezzy. Plug the thing in via ethernet, ideally gigabit if you have it. Do the Ctrl-R do boot to the recovery partition and recover over the internet. Forget wifi.
Failing that, download the Mavericks or Yosemite USB installer via your MBPr and install that instead.
