First Car looking at 328/35i have some questions
Ok so i'm getting my first car in a few months. My limit is $25k but i can add close to $2-3k of my own money and this car will be payed off immediately no payments or anything. I am in love with the 328i and the 335i, i've heard/know that the 335i is faster than the 328i but it can't turn as well. While i dont need speed i like the extra horsepower that the 335i offers.
I live in North Miami Beach, FL so if anyone knows any good dealers/dealerships there that don't rip you off please feel free to recommend. Also since the car will be payed off i feel like the dealers will give maybe a $1-2k discount since there will be no payments(i don't really know this since i have never bought a car). Also i would like to add the M performance exhaust to the car if it doesn't come with it. I have never done something like this before and i do not know for sure how much the exhaust will cost i've heard like $1k then i see like $5k so yea. Also do not know how much the installation would be if its easy enough i can do myself then i will but i would rather leave it to the professionals. In the future after i make more money working i would like to add maybe some nicer rims any recommendations? Oh yea and it would have to be 2012+ Thanks to anyone that helps out!!! |

Two general rules I have heard of when negotiating are 1) to not tell the dealer that you are buying with cash i.e not getting a loan and 2) don't talk about a trade-in until you reach a deal on the purchase price of the vehicle.

I'd say take someone who has bought cars from dealers befor with you and negotiate. You might be able to pick up a 2009 335 with low mileage if you are lucky. As the above person said, don't tell them you are paying cash until the final price is agreed on. Good luck

MPE is around 1K, definitely no where near 5K.. I don't think installation should be more than a $100 but Installation is extremely simple as well. There are plenty of guides and if you have Ramps you can probably do it at home.
My local exhaust guy only charges me $20 per weld so I guess I'm lucky with that. |

it'll be hard to find a 2012+ 335i for that price range, i'd say you're looking at mid to low $30,000 range for a 2012+ 335i depending on the mileage

In the miami area used entry level luxury sedans usually are lower than market price because of how many there are my friend got a 2013 335i with 60kmi for $27k.

When I was looking at exhausts they were generally around the same price so I think you'd be fine getting it from a vendor here on the forums. It also of course depends if you get the 328 or 335 as the 335 exhausts are a bit more expensive

Paying cash is frowned upon at dealerships(Kinda sarcastic). They rather finance you through their bank and make the extra cash. I wouldn't discuss payment options till you get the price you want. Negotiate via email till you get exactly what you want and bring a copy when you purchase a car. To be honest, I wouldn't even pay cash if you had it. Interest rates are low and you would be better off investing some of the money, instead of buying a depreciating asset, just my two cents. Spend like you want.
As for the exhaust. It is very easy to install. I would try and find a used exhaust on our forum and save some money. |

If balance is more important to you than power, you can get a good deal on a 2012-13 328i likely with lots of great options for around $28K down in South Florida.
With the 328i, your gas milage is a tad better and you'll find that the acceleration is more than enough when driven in sport mode. My only warning would be trying to save a few bucks by getting a high milage car. BMWs can kill you on maintenance, so finding a good CPO car would be smart money.

If this is your first one, it'll help keep you from being caught with your pants down. Compare a de prices online to see if you think it's worth it.

the thing about those websites is they don't have a lot of options when it comes to looking at cars, like you cannot find a car with sports package or premium package things like that
just saw 2014 328i for $26k didn't look into it much but how? it also has very low miles here it is: http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invento...ting=107770288 Last edited by Gabe_U; 07-05-2015 at 10:48 PM.. |
