Question about M Short Shift Knob (Weighted)???
for those that have this shift knob...the one originally meant for the e46... how's the durability of the leather on this shift knob? i know it's smooth leather, but i'm worried that it might peel or something. so yeah, how's the durability of the leather on this shift knob?? thanks!

I love it - so much better than the stock one - mostly because its weighted. It seems to be put together well. I've had it for a year and a half, and it still looks brand new.

I've had mine on my E46 for awhile now and it's held up great. I've gone through a couple shift knobs, and this one was the best thus far

Any way to replace the plate at the top of the knob? I don't like the way it says 'M'.... since I don't have a 'M' car. I do like the chrome 6 speed marking, the weight and look of the knob tho, just not the M........

Who cares?! The car feels so much better; best mod I've done (the V1 hardwire is pretty neat too).

lol, i have the M knob too and its awesome!!! the only thing that bothers me is that it feels a little 'loose' to me because the inner part of the knob seems to be a little short when sticking all the way into the e92 335 shift lever... i hope i was clear on that one...

u can order this knob from leatherz.com with just the 6speed markings and not the M... they give u a choice. Got mine from there about 6 months ago and it's holding up 100%

I don't have the M one - but I got the original chrome short shifter. The height and feel of that shifter is awesome compared to stock! I went w/ that considering it'd much better match my interior instead of having an odd M badged leather knob. Maybe the M is better because of the weighted factor, but i'm very happy with mine.
