Winter tires-- Repost from main M2C . board
Any one else researched winter tires and wheels? Will 18" fit? I assume not with the bigger brakes on the Competition/
Tire rack only list 19" and the cheapest wheel: HYPER GT HLT Star Graphite Per Wheel: $489.09 MICHELIN PILOT ALPIN PA4 245/35R19 $296.73 each with TPMS of $140 Sub-Total: $3,283.28 ____________________ OR BBS CI-R 19x9.5 Finish: Black w/Polished Stainless Lip $640.09 MICHELIN PILOT ALPIN PA4 245/35R19 $296.73 each TPMS $140 Sub-Total: $3,887.28 Thoughts? BMW website does not list any winter wheel/tire for the 2019 M2C, or any wheels.. Do wheel for the F80's fit the M2C? It's been a while since I talked "wheel size offset and bolt pattern" . Suggestions of wheels . and tires to use for winter? thanks! |

M2, M3 and M4 wheels are the same as M2C wheels. I hope that helps.
Also you can read this thread about winter tires and wheels: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1271517 Last edited by DanG; 09-20-2018 at 12:53 PM.. |

You are looking for a 19x9 wheel with offset around 25-30 for square setup. 19x9.5 ET33 should work as well. For example VMR V710 are about $250 each so you can probably get a winter setup for about $2200.

Last winter, I ended up using the factory rims (had them sprayed with with pealable paint) and after researching and running the full cost/benefits, I ended up running this setup on mine.
These NEXEN were among the highest rated by ADAC (It's like the German AAA/Consumer report) in term of performance and noise. NEXEN WINGUARD SPORT 245/40R19 (Front) NEXEN WINGUARD SPORT 255/40R19 (Rear) I bought them in Germany, so I am not sure if they are carried stateside. |

I do not know how they would handle deep snow, but then again tires can go so far with RWD even those with excellent ESC. |

Today I went to my local wheel shop, and the test fitted a 19" BMW replica wheel on the front. The OEM front wheel is 19 x 9", ET 29. The wheel we tried was 8.5" wide, with 35 offset, and while the clearance of the front brakes from the spokes wasn't a problem (so the higher offset was not an issue), the side of the rim did NOT clear the brakes unfortunately. The OEM wheels seem to have an indent behind the spokes, so they don't rub. So it looks like the Tire Rack OZ wheels above are the least expensive option, for a square setup. |

I ended up ordering a set of 641M's with Michelin Alpin's from my dealership for a couple hundred bucks less than the set Tire Rack had available. All the questions about what will and will not fit made me a lot more comfortable just buying the set that BMW lists as compatible with the M2C.

Converted into US, that would be about $4,000 I'm guessing. That is way too rich for me. I'm used to paying 200 to 300 for winter wheels, plus $300 for a really nice tire like the PA4, and calling it a day. I was seriously considering the Apex SM-10's, on a group buy, for almost $400 each, plus tires and sensors, but still hoping to find something cheaper. So I might just skip it this year, as we get so little snow in the Pacific Northwest, and see if there are more choices next year. What did you spend? I'm guessing $700 to $800 a wheel? |

I have to say, though, that leaving your summer's on due to "so little snow in the Pacific Northwest" is not a great idea, even south of you here in the Portland metro. Summer wheels in the rain at 34 degrees isn't the safest thing to do. It's been below 40 on my way to work every morning this week (and above 65 on the way home). Even on dry roads, general grip and braking distances are compromised enough that I can feel it. |

Yeah, I know about the temp issues with summer tires below 45 degrees. I'm in Vancouver. I've ran winters for that reason on my last car, my RWD 335, every winter. I've got an X3 with winters I was thinking of using this year, if I can't find a cheaper package in the next month or so. |

It's not half price. The whole set is on BMW USA for 3500 and change plus shipping. GetBMWParts.com (which is the web business of a BMW Dealer) has the set for what I paid plus shipping. I just asked them nicely if they really would honor their advertised "we'll match other BMW dealerships" note on their website, and they did. Apparently, there is one dealership in Georgia they won't match because that dealership sells below cost on a lot of things, but otherwise they just did what their advertisement said they would do.

Guessing it was BMW of South Atlanta they were talking about. They have that package for $800 per corner, including $35 shipping within USA. |
