I got the chance to see this G80 at my local dealer yesterday, and I loved it. I've liked it from day one, but I definitely wanted to see it. The grills look huge on camera, but they are actually small in real life.

I was planning to order right away, but the GM of the dealership told me Harmon Kardon is experiencing a shortage, and they have no idea when it'll be over. It could be weeks or even months. All he knows is it'll be long. My choices are to buy one off the showroom floor or wait for the shortage to be over. They advised me just to wait because, even after the call with their regional directors, they were unsure what was going to happen.

This will be my first M car. If I'm being honest, this is one of my dream cars, so I feel I shouldn't settle for a random one. I'm 23 so there is a little bit of impatience in me, but I really want Voodoo blue w/ Fiona red interior.

PS. Toronto Red looks a little orange in the sun.

Check with another dealer or better yet multiple dealer.

I searched for that shortage and I read it's only affecting X5/X6 produced in SC. Don't know how accurate that is.

There is a shortage one way or the other affecting most if not all auto manufacturers. But you should try another dealer just to be safe, perhaps they have a HEA or a customer backed out on one that you could grab.

You could get lucky and get a decent build week even with the shortage, it all depends on your configuration.

As long as they have allocation, there shouldn’t be an issue. I was told 8-12 weeks my ship arrives port on Tues, putting me right at 8 weeks.

I didn’t order CF seats, didn’t get individual paint... all that comes into play with just-in-time manufacturing.

My pickup is not scheduled but I’m hoping for market release.

Seems to be the case, I follow some german news sites and in fact there are two things that are on shortage, that BMW either removed options or upgraded base config...

However, in short, currently not available is Live Cockpit Plus and Harman Kardon Sound-System.

Following cars affected:
F40, F44, G20, G21, G01, G22, G23, G30, G31, G05, G06.

They do not mention G80/82, but I guess because they anyway get BMW Live Cockpit Professional, but assume they get same HK

Wow...I hope they get your parts back in stock. This is going to be a true test of my patience because there's lot of them popping up in my area that are available.

They didn't even give you a revised build week, just "indefinite delay"? I supposedly have a week 15 build week, but status is still showing 111, so I'm guessing my week 15 is a pipe dream. Effing blows.

On the manual builds do you have the standard 18/19 wheel? I was in 112 status with a week 13 build. I changed to 19/20 wheels and it changed to 150 the next day. Coincidence?

I ordered mine back in december with 19/20 and won't get it before week 16/17 so I don't think this is the issue....I just think they don't like me

Allocations for MT are rare in U.S. but I have heard they are even harder to get in Europe. That might be the issue

One reason I was swayed to 6MT was that I think they might hold their value a bit better. I suspect the divide in the future will be xdrive comp or 6MT regular. BMW sort of hinted at that with their assumed sales ratios

I was wondering why all available 2021 M2 Comps on the lot had just the Hifi audio. Check into the parts. For me, it is simply a matter of swapping 4 tweeters in, relatively PNP.
