In my opinion the non M-Sport 7er looks better thanks to a lack of thick black plastic that the M-Sport has. Sadly the front end doesn't match the understated side and rear design and I just can't get use to those split headlights. The two tone paint is nice option though, reminds me of a similar Silver/Blue Maybach I saw the other day.

Saw this in person and in my opinion, the design is not cohesive in anyway. It really does look like there were 3 teams that worked on this car: one for the rear, side and front.
But the interior and the tech in this is pretty amazing by traditional BMW standards. The new 7er truly feels like a textbook exercise - to showcase what BMW can do and is capable of but not necessarily executed properly with this generation. From very early spy shots, I think the next-gen 5er is going to look and feel like something this 7er should have been. |

Agreed. The front end is an abomination. I still feel like BMW is playing heavily to China with these design cues. As a former G12 750i owner, it's very sad to see how far the 7-Series has fallen.

I completely disagree. I think the front end bridges part of the gap to Rolls Royce. It’s about presence and intimidation. I think the pre-LCI G12, as an example, looked like a stretched 5-series. It had its charms, but it was too demure too communicate “big boss” car. I don’t think the 7 has the same role as the rest of the cars in the lineup, and therefore it should look different. So if you think of it as more of a baby Rolls Royce instead of an inflated 5, it makes a lot more sense.

Again... The only plus for me in this is once released in measurable numbers, it will help me in my search for a 2020 model. Possibly a V12 even. |

A V12 would be sweet! Definitely an end of an era engine right there. Last edited by stein_325i; 09-12-2022 at 05:56 PM.. |

I've got one on order and I'm going to have to get used to the front end. I didn't especially like the G12 LCI front either, but I got over it. Maybe I'll set it up to back into my garage so when I come out of the house I won't see it.
Why? Because my lease is expiring, the interior is really nice, and I didn't like the driving feel of an S Class even though I liked its looks better. The schnozz is only one aspect of the car and doesn't have anything to do with how it drives.

I really like how the car looks overall including the front , It is definitely very polarizing and I think BMW was brave enough to take this step instead of playing it Safe like Merc, I am a current owner of a s550 and i didn't like how the new one looks or drives and I was almost buying it !

It is the only BMW that looks better with the luxury front end, and it looks better with a single color. That said, I still am not a fan of the split headlights, I don't hate it as much as some do, it just won't be purchased by me.

E65 owners had to wait 20 years before something as ugly came about.
I like that the car is two tone. It is more interesting this way. May be would have had black - silver color split, lighter top, darker bottom. Last edited by Tallest; 09-14-2022 at 11:20 AM.. |

The G70 doesn't look like it belongs with the rest of the lineup at all. Some say that's a good/bad thing but it's just not a cohesive design as a standalone vehicle or as part of BMW's portfolio. |

No, its not that I'm not completely happy. I'm looking forward to it. It's just that there isn't a car out there that is perfect in every way. Styling is just one factor in my car decisions, and here the verdict goes to the new 7, as I want a great road car that is fun to drive, and I love the new technology. My other choice was a S class, which I seriously considered until I test drove one. It was nice, beautifully put together, butt the handling was inferior to my current G12. I was impressed by the MB, but way happier in my G12 when I got into it after the test drive. The BMW approach to handling is different than MB, and more to my liking. And the BMW approach to technology is more intuitive than MB (for me, at least; others may differ). So in the end, dealing with the nose is outweighed by more important factors - to me. YMMV, and I'm not going to argue with anybody for whom the front end is a absolute no-go. They're entitled to their opinion - and so am I.
