It says the shadow line option for the front kidney and bottom air dam will be in high gloss. Is that the same as the G80? I'd take high gloss over chrome but what does the kidney become if not high gloss? I know on my F80 the panel between doors is gloss and it's so sensitive to scratches.

Also any chance avoiding these parking options eliminates the camera appendages in the front and rear which look like afterthoughts?

Wow, so there's no sunroof delete unless you go with the black carbon roof? I think the G87 would look so much better with a body-matching roof and without a black postage stamp stuck in the middle.

Seems like no way to avoids these awful cameras, pretty sure they go beyond parking sensors, seem to be for front collision avoidance and lane detection also

On the German configurator the sunroof is an option.

Glass roof is in optional equipment near the bottom, $950.

One would assume not checking that option box would equip M2 with steel roof.

Hmmm ... not sure. This language is taken directly from the specs:

"There are TWO roof variants for the new BMW M2: an electrically operated glass slide/tilt moonroof offering a glass surface now larger by nearly 20 percent compared with the outgoing model is standard equipment. A weight-reducing M Carbon roof panel is optional and deletes the moonroof."

It doesn't say there's a third option of a body-matching roof without the glass moonroof section. The way I read that is if you don't go with the carbon roof, you get the regular roof but with the glass moonroof mandatory.

My advice would be to wait for the full US PDF of the ordering guide to be posted. The document in the original post appears to be translated,so some of this info might not apply to the US.The slicktop is standard in Canada,so there is a good chance that it will also be standard in the US.

Just stating what is posted in the OP. In europe the glass sunroof is a $950 option. Making both the sunroof and carbon roof options.

Yet to be seen what the US market gets.

Variants are a variation from its original form. So that is correct, there are two roof variants of the original steel roof: 1) one with a sunroof, and 2) a CF, both of which cost extra over the original steel roof according to the German brochure.

It really depends how you read it. I agree it reads like sunroof and carbon roof will be options.

"...glass slide/tilt sunroof and M carbon roof as options"

"There are two optional roof variants..."

Lane detection and collision avoidance appear to be options.

I believe they were listed as standard if I am not mistaken, also yet to see any pictures of the car without those cameras

Yes, will be interesting to see how it's offered in the U.S., because plenty of guys would want that slick-top look, I bet.

It is strange that there are no photos out there of the G87 with a regular body-colored roof and no moon-roof, not that I could find anyway. You'd think if that was the standard roof (without the optional carbon or optional moonroof), that there would be at least a couple photos online showing it.
