M Wheels on M240i?

Anyone try the M2/M3/M4 wheel sizes on a M240i?

Not sure this would work.

The guys at @ Apex are the people to ask.

someone on ig name "80lehtinen" he's got some good pictures of the car with the 826m wheels 19x9.5 et20 all around. on stock suspension maybe someone can try 255/35/19 squared. per his posts he's lowered 35mm on ohlins coilovers and "265/35/19 michellin cup 2's shaved off 2.5mm from the rim hubs at rear and 3 degrees camber front, 2 degrees rear."

Thanks for sharing this! Here's a pic from his page of that setup which looks great! So we know a 9.5" wide wheel with 255 wide tire fits the front. I wonder if a 275 wide tire fits the front though? Thats almost an inch wider. And I also wonder if a 10.5" wide wheel with a 285 fits the rear?

We know the dimensions below fit the new M2 but it's my (admittedly basic) understanding that the new M2 chassis (G87) is more like the M4 chassis than the M240/230 (G42) chassis. Seems like the extra width of the M2 is where they picked up some space for larger wheels/tires.

Those are the 898s 19". BMW offers them in some of their winter/summer wheel+tire packages. I *almost* got them for my winter setup but not too crazy about the gray color and the white lettering.

I haven't yet seen the M2 offsets. I'm assuming they'll be the same as the G8X M3/M4 but not 100% sure on that. If someone does have a solid resource on M2 wheel offsets, I'd love to see it.

If they do match the OE M3/4 offsets, then it would be quite difficult to run them on a normal G42. OE G80 M3 offsets in the 19/20 are ET20 front and rear with 19x9.5 F and 20x10.5 R being the most commonly sold option that I've encountered. That would be really aggressive for a normal G42 2 series and poke out way beyond the fenders. As the post above shows, you can make the front fitment work with narrower tires, camber et c in the front. Not a fan of milling a backpad of any wheel to change the offset though if I'm honest.

The low factory M3/4 offsets actually let us make the most concave BMW wheels I've ever worked with that are still a direct fit with our 20x10 front G80 M3 fitment being an ET8. That's the first single-digit BMW offset I've been involved with but the wheels work well on the M3.

Example: 20x10 ET8 Front wheels with 20x11 ET18 rears.

TLDR: I don't think they'd be an easy fit with stock fenders because of the widths and lower offsets.

If there is a ET spec that makes this combo fit a G42, I would be all over it. Is anyone running this much tire on a G42?

Those wheels look great on the M4! I'm a big fan of the 5-spoke, split-Y, concave wheels. Looks great, not too busy, light and relatively easy to clean. What do you guys recommend/offer in that wheel for G42/M240i owners with the ZTK package/larger brakes specifically? The OEM 893M wheels are:

245/35ZR19 93Y 8.5Jx19 ET25
255/35ZR19 96Y 9.5Jx19 ET35

Our G42 fitment in VS-5RS is 19x9 ET25 up front. That wheel clears the ZTK brakes and can be run in the rear as well. Alternatively if you want to go staggered, you can run our 19x10 ET38 in the rear.

The narrower wheels and higher offset mean they can't be as concave as the M3/4 fitments, but I think they still look great on the car.

Thanks. What size tires are on this car? The rear looks like it's sitting noticeably higher? Maybe a taller sidewall than the front? If so, I assume this is a RWD version unless the photo is playing tricks on my eyes?

The tires in that photoshoot are 255/35-19 F/275/35-19 which is a RWD-only combination. The car is xDrive but we only swapped on those wheels for the shoot itself. For an xDrive staggered fitment, we usually recommend 245/40-19 F/275/35-19 R. This sample set is used to help us confirm suspension clearances as well on 2 series and 3 series so the wider & shorter front tire is preferred.

Thanks for the explanation. Much appreciated. Love that wheel!
