Where do you buy parts?

Hi,

Sorry if I missed that somewhere, but where do we buy parts in Canada? I can only find links to US or UK websites. Looking for pricing to get an idea on what things cost here, or do we have to go through shops in the area?

I am mainly interested in who sells and installs springs, spacers, brake pads (my OCD is already getting the best of me), grills and other goodies. Smaller stuff I usually order directly in Germany and have it shipped through family, but what about those bigger items? Should I also shop directly in Germany and find a local installer in the Vancouver area?

I have been purchasing aftermarket parts through R44 in the UK. Easy to order and shipping is relatively quick. In my research I found that for Canadians this is usually cheaper than the US for some reason. I then have dealer install with zero issues and great fitment. Nothing is easy being in this market. There is the odd exception when I order something unique from IND out of Chicago.

I'm glad to see that both IND and R44 ship to Canada. I guess they include customs, taxes and shipping in the total cost? I emailed the folks at GetBMWParts.com in the US and they don't ship to Canada.

Nope. I have ordered multiples times from IND and R44. You get hit with duties and taxes everytime. R44 is a bit better because they use DHL, so it's basically just taxes. IND uses UPS, and UPS brokerage fees are outrageous. My last one was a $170 UPS import bill for a $500 part, on top of paying IND for the shipping already. IND is great because they have a large catalog you can order from, but shipping to Canada is extremely expensive because they use UPS. Just be prepared for import bills with both. I have never gotten away with not getting one from IND or R44.

Ah okay! In that case I will only order what I absolutely can't find in Canada from them.

There is a new website for Canadian folks to get carbon fiber parts for G and F series.

https://www.vescaa.com/s/shop

I know the owner, she is very available if you need more details

iND - Great Website | Helpful staff
iND ships ASAP | Normally arrives within 2 days to Canada
Top quality parts in stock...

Park Auto - If you have 5-7 days to just find what you need - Go here
The worst organized site in history & quite frankly prices aren't that good all things considered.

I have purchased like 3k in parts from IND over several orders and have never been hit with a UPS charge.

But If you get hit with one you can tell the driver to take the package back to the UPS depot and go clear it yourself at the CBSA office. Then you take your paperwork to UPS depot for pick up and they waive the fee.

IND is top quality but prices are 15-20% over every other website and yeah, you get charged by import duties and etc. so hard afterwards, like 20-25% of the invoice.

You should search for spare parts on Google and purchase them if they are available at a good price. I also use google search to find anything. Recently, I was looking for a site online where I can microgaming casinos websites with reviews and found website on the very first page of a google search. That is why I am recommending you use google search.

I have started using https://germanparts.ca/ which has a good selection of OEM BMW parts at good prices.... prices that are a good deal cheaper than at the BMW dealership. They will deliver parts to delivery locations 20 locations across Canada.

I know OP asked for parts in Canada, but if a US BMW dealer has the cheapest parts, why does it matter where they come from?

The problem is as Canadians' we have to pay an extra 32+ percent in exchange rate, then 6% or so in duties to import from US so this ends up costing us way more to buy from US.

It is ridiculous how expensive things are here compared to the US.

Don't forget the insane shipping costs and brokerage fees incurred. Unless you can ship to south side and declare yourself.

Most US dealers can’t ship to Canada per BMWNA
