Stud Conversion - G42 M240i

Does anyone know where I can get a set of studs to convert a G42? All the ones I see either don't look right, or are just bolts.

Can someone please explain what 'stud conversion' means?

I ran the Macht Schnell 75mm stud conversion kit on my car. Worked great with the 10mm Dinan spacers I had before I switched to Apex VS5RS wheels.

Just a note, I took them off the car. Studs are great, but if you have anyone with a pneumatic impact anywhere near your wheels, I would advise against using studs.

I had to remove mine because the idiots at the tire shop completely destroyed them with the impact gun. The studs were coming out with the nuts. There are specific torque values and an impact gun completely negates all of that.

I'd like to run studs again, but to spent $200 for another set just to have them get destroyed by some careless idiot with an impact gun doesn't appeal to me.

From factory BMWs use lugs to hold the wheel to the hub. These are basically big screws that go through the holes in the wheel and thread into the hub assembly.

A stud conversion replaces those bolts with threaded studs. You screw the threaded stud into the holes on the hub, then you put your wheel into the studs, then screw it down with lug nuts.

It makes taking the wheels off and putting them on easier and they have less risk of hitting your wheel into your rotor. They also look cool, which is why I had them.

If that’s the only reason, you’d be far cheaper buying a pair of stud alignment pins which, to be fair, you should have anyway

The motorsport studs are crap. The metal is soft and will rust quickly, the coating is a joke. I received them, many of them had damaged threads, sent them right back. These are like Harbor Freight quality. Stay with the OEM, way better.

I use the alignment pins, super easy. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L2WE1JK...roduct_details
