ZTK Aftermarket Wheels Thread

Starting this thread so that hopefully everyone with the ZTK package can share the aftermarket wheels they are running. Partially for selfish reasons because I'm in the market and looking for options but also so we can consolidate all of the cars with ZTK since, as I understand it, the fitment is different due to the larger brakes.

You have the Apex VS-5RS correct?

Is your car lowered with spacers? Any other pictures save the one in your other thread?

I've seen the Apex thread... can't decide if I like the look of those or not.

Interested as well. I just bought a 2023 M240i after a fire totaled my 2020 M4CS , but that’s another story.

Anyway, looking to find out what wheel sizes, spacers, tires will fit on this car. I’m looking to keep the car mostly stock, but adding some PS4S’s, wider wheels, lowering springs, maybe spacers if need be.

I can tell the car could be an amazing mountain/track car with just a few simple mods. I’m impressed with it, even after having owned the ridiculous M4CS.

Sorry to hear about the fire; sounds like it was an amazing car!

I'm assuming you do not have the ZTK package if you do not currently have the PS4S's?

Yeah, that was a pretty tough pill to swallow. I got plenty of money back from insurance, but I just got married and and I couldn’t justify another $100k car.

Correct. It does NOT have ZTK package. 19x8” & 19x8.5” (I think) with P-Zeros

ZTK (HP Tire/Cooling Package) owner chiming in. I bought a Minus One 18" square setup for my G42 for the winter. I didn't go with after market wheels due to lack of knowledge. I went out of my way to get tires compatible with the Michelin X-Ice Snows. I managed to find them on amazon for 182.97 which just absolutely dumpstered the price at both Discount Tire and the local dealership. Unfortunately they must have been such a good price that they're out of stock. Leaving the link here in case they come back.

Here some info I'd like to share for those of you braver than me:

Brake disc maximum diameter: 15"
Brake caliper height: ~= 2" (Measured from face of brake to highest point on face of caliper)

The following official rims work with the '23 G42 according to the internal parts database available to the BMW service center:

Stock 19" ZTK Setup
245/35R19 (Front)
255/35R19 (Rear)

18" Winter Staggered 796M Matte Black
36-11-2-462-648 | 225/45R18 (Front) | $724 | Stock Tire Size Comparison
36-11-2-462-649 | 255/40R18 (Rear) | $848 | Stock Tire Size Comparison
36-11-5-A23-FE
4 | 255/35R19 (Rear) | $981 | No Diff

18" Winter Square Setup 796M Matte Black
36-11-5-A23-FE1 | 225/45R18 | $575 | Stock Tire Size Comparison (front) & Stock Tire Size Comparison (rear)

Notice that FE1's are actually just 648's. I went with these b/c minus sizing tires generally reduces snow float, square setup generally reduces understeer. Hub facing inner diameter of my FE1/648's was 17.5". Local dealership parts manager confirmed fitment.

Hope this info helps!

Has anyone tried these wheels? I have the ZTK package, in Canada. I have an unused set of 225-45-18 studded winters waiting for rims. Planning a square setup.

I picked up my car today and immediately noticed that there is definitely room on both front and rear rims for wider tires. They are not square to the rims - they almost look undersize for the rims. Will definitely look into going with wider tires when these wear out. Maybe just on the back - 265 or 275 maybe. Mine is a '24 RWD.

I also have the ZTK package on a '23 M240iX with the 19" wheels and large brake calipers on the front. There was very little clearance between the front brake caliper and the inside of the wheel. I have 4 extra 18" wheels from my former Golf R that I was hoping to do a trial fit on the BMW, but after looking at the size and clearance on the BMW I thought that 18" wheels would be an extremely tight fit against the caliper, if they even fit at all.

Have you mounted your 18" wheels on your car yet?

Thanks for this info... Looking at the 648's and it actually shows the ZTK brake caliper in one of the catalog images with that wheel... wish I had seen this earlier. I ended up ordering the FE3/FE4 setup with 19s because that seemed to be all that my dealer thought would fit. Looks like I could have saved $1000 or so and gotten a little taller sidewall for snow.

Didn't see this message in my inbox cause the quote thing in your reply got borked lol.

Not yet, but my dealer was very confident they would fit. I'm about to mount them by the end of this month however, due to the temps in my area dropping lower than the summer compound optimal temps.

Just washed my car for the first time (600 miles) - wondering if anyone has any suggestions for cleaning these ZTK wheels.

It took me almost as long to clean the 4 wheels as it did to wash then entire car and I still didn't do a very good job with the wheels.

I mounted my 18" Winter Square Setup 796M Matte Black (36-11-5-A23-FE1) set on today. It was a VERY close fit actually. I switched the tires manually from my tire prepssure monitor screen and it advised me tire pressures. Interestingly enough the tuck wasn't that bad, but not optimal.

Looks like 255/35/19 Front?

Do you have any pics showing the poke? Any issues with rubbing? Much better than stock or incremental upgrade? I assume more stick overall and a little more comfortable in the sport settings due to the taller sidewalls?

Also considering adding .5" width on my ZTK/summer wheel setup with meatier tires and curious how it compares...

I got some cheap cotton gloves from Amazon (30 for 9 dollars). I use them with a sponge and my bucket of car wash suds. I use the sponge to do the heavy washing - rim of wheel, spoke faces, wheel hub, bulk of rim between spokes, wheel nut openings. Then I put on one of the cotton gloves and dip it in the bucket. I use my fingers to go behind the spokes, and to use my thumb and forefinger to run up and down the sides of the spokes and to get in the corner on each side of the spokes between the rim and the spoke, and the spoke and the center hub of the wheel. Rinse. Long description, but it takes me about 3 minutes a wheel. I used the same procedure with my Golf R with phalanx wheels. Much easier and quicker using fingers with a thin cotton covering to get into everything. Hope this is useful.
