smoke side marker

i don't really want to spend $40+ on little tiny smoked side marker. i understand that some are using led but i don't really care whether it's led or not. i just want it to be smoked. has anyone tried tinting their side marker themselves? smoke spray goes for merely fifteen bux off ebay... as compared to $40+ on side marker from vendors...
