F10 or new 2011 Porsche Cayenne
I'm considering getting the Cayenne, even though I always have been biased towards BMW sedans. The Cayenne appears beautiful!
Any thoughts? |

I love the Q5, but I don't think its in the same league (or anywhere close) as the F10 or new Cayenne. Handling, maintenance costs, long run reliability, and gas consumption are better on the 5 (and maybe the interior as well - though the new Cayenne is beautiful too). On the other hand, the new Cayenne is beautiful, it's very unique, sounds great (generally), and it's a Porsche...

A more natural comparison would be the Cayenne to the X5. Both exclusive and very good cars. |

NYC is a jungle, the streets are full of holes; SUV terrain, no? Everyone and their sister has a BMW in NY and NJ. |

As for BMW sedan vs VW SUV, the choice would pretty obvious to me. |

The 5, 5GT, 6, 7 are also built on the same platform. Are they all the same? What's more, BMW is also using the same engines and same design/interiors, making them closer than the difference between VW and Porsche. The Touareg and Cayenne are built on the same platform, but the Porsche (subjectively) looks a million times better, the interior I believe is nicer/much more sporty, and the drive is much sportier as well, depending on the model selected. A while back, I drove a first-generation S model; it was pretty well optioned, but if a Touareg drives anything like that Porsche, then it's one of the best value propositions in the SUV market. A fantastic drive (for a SUV anyway) for $50k (CAD). I'm pretty sure it doesn't (although I've never driven one). |

Cayenne doesn't seat any more people or haul any more cargo than the 5. On the flip side, while the Cayenne does handle fine as an SUV, I don't think it's anywhere near the 5. So can you point to ONE advantage of buying the Cayenne over the 5? |

Everyone and their sister have a Porsche (Boxster) in CA. It doesn't make the Boxster any less a car. |

I have doubted a long time between the Ferrari F40 and the Skoda Octavia Stationwagon. Eventually, I have choosen the BMW F10.
