E90 LCI hood | alternative to OEM
Just saw this on Duke's page.
thought some members out there doing LCI E90 Conversions would find this helpfull. it's weight savings and vented- price should be alittle better than oem - i would think - hope. i wonder if they'll do it without the vents. also I'm seeing LCI front bumpers with PRE LCI hood. IMHO that don't look clean - and i understand the money factor but please...LCI hood... (side rant) info here http://www.dukedynamics.com/blog/?p=807

Any car are simulated and tested for crash tests. How do you think this "hard as glass" hood will be deformed and will absorb the hit during a front accident?
I don't understand how the CF hood customer can take this risk.. |

that fitment looks bad. the hood appears to wide. I you look at the the gaps on the side, there's no gap. It's sitting direclty against the fender.. BMW has been known to have consistent gaps thru out the entire car. From my experience, China made CF manufacture their parts a tide wider bc the usually shrink.. should be worth around 500 for CF if it's not high quality CF

thanks for correct'n me. Quote:
as for CF parts for your bimmer, it's to cut down on weight. performance gains in weight reduction. that's the functional part of buying into CF. Cosmetically, well..that's your choice to make. an OEM CF hood for the E92M3 is probably at more risk than a non CF hood? BMW offers that option for what reason do you think>/? there are gains with CF opposing just risk. Quote:
i believe they're at their testing faze. so hopefully they're reading your comment so they can adjust that. Duke's been good recently with their line of products - someones shape'n up duke over there. make parts wider bc it shrinks? nver herd dat befre. i'm not even gona ask/

Otherwise, $380 + shipping, so about $500. Paint is another $300-400. Used painted hoods (as rare as they are) usually pop up for about $300-400 and Greyhound shipping is $60 cross country. |
