USB Port Does Not Read Files...

I downloaded the 15 GB .rar file (BMW_Navigation_2013.rar) file.
I extracted it so in WINRAR there was one folder

BMW_Naviation_2013

So I clicked that and then I saw a config file and a PKDGB folder. I copied both of those things to the USB drive...

So i tried plugging it into the USB port in the glove box...nothing happened

The only folder I did not copy to the USB drive was the BMW_Naivation foler...because when you click that ...the config file and the PKDGB folder comes up (as mentioned above)

car manufactured 09/2009

why is it not working??

Thank you

Your software needs to be updated before it will look for Nav updates on the USB port -- unfortunately I think this means a trip to the dealer.

Some have reported success getting a software update done under warranty by claiming issues with the "shopping cart bug" -- google that for more info.

Can I update the software on my own. I am very good at coding

Is this a firmware update? Of what kind of software update?

Make sure your USB drive is formatted FAT32. Some people have it formatted NTFS and that won't work.

Yes...it is FAT32

So when I put the USB drive in the USB slot...nothing happens except it says "reading" in greyout letters on the CIC screen under the options to pick the USB port

Is this normal?

It is when your software is too old.

Maybe try reading the existing thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=13914265
