I hate to break it to everyone in this 5 star thread but the ENTIRE point of a heads up display is it's collimated or focused to infinity. This way your eyes don't need to change focus between looking at the road and the display.

In other words, this product is a crappy gimmick.

Actually, you would be surprised to know what your eyes are capable of 'seeing' - blurred or not - when focused on the road.

Ain't the same as taking your eyes off the road to focus on the instruments panel.

you CAN, if you require, place this behind the screen to give you a brighter display but it negates the effect of seeing through it like a HUD should be! Can't see why you would use it!

I had to use mine as my display gradually began to fade and eventually disappear, but i had a faulty unit which is another thread!!!

Depends on a car's dashboard - in F10 there is some space (see my pics above) but agree that half closed + windshield sticker (couple of bucks at eBay) is too much hassle...

I am more interested in this rubber/plastic cover posted in this thread - something like that would make perfect fit for F10. Strange that BMW didn't come with factory adapters for dashboards espec. as this accessory is not cheap...

I am not talking about this small rubber display cover that comes with display (I have it too somewhere in my car ) but if you look at david51's F30 pics more carefully you will notice that whole device is hiden under "plastic/rubber plate" on the top of his F30 dashboard... Looks quite good.

Yes so am I. I have an X3 (F25) and looking into hiding it in such way as it to not look too much like an aftermarket piece of kit.

Could you advise readers where it came from. Looks as though some thought has gone into producing it. Perhaps some kind of kit that can be adapted for any car/application.

I bought the original media at bmw (piece # 3 on image)

I cut my dashboard(it is best to stick to the overly complicated dashboard cut)

setting good position head-node and after I have everything covered in black

hello

you must remove the piece and put in a good position the web (black circle in the picture)

To remove the water, it must lift the clip brown up and return in good position

I can not give you because we need your support to have a BMW E90 in order to position the head up

No. I've used an actual HUD. There is no comparison. This is a cheap substitute with completely inferior functionality.

Great job, you've elevated aftermarket install to OEM level.

Where did you get the leatherette from?

That seems like an even better match indeed. Would you mind sharing the name of the store and provide details of the product (name/type/manufacturer etc)?

I see real danger out there in our California roadways that many might not be experiencing in other parts of the world were people take pride in driving as a skill. The last thing people need is one more distraction or thing to look at. People here in SoCal are not paying attention to the road. I think it's especially disturbing at night where BMW has sold out from the awesome red backlit E46 night vision displays to the trendy bright hues with a bright lcd on top of the dash and now another gadget on top of the dash.

Paying attention to what is going on outside is the real need these days in my humble opinion, much more than more data and blinking lights and menus on the screen.

I was at the San Diego aerospace museum a couple of days ago with my kids showing them the cockpit of the Spirit of St. Louis. This guy crossed the Atlantic Ocean alone with these instruments.

Just a thought!
