Jack points mystery
I've got a 2016 G12 (750i). On the left and right side of the front frame are 40mm holes that look like tie down (that is, a large bolt or shaft goes into these holes) to secure for transport. I am wondering if these are safe jacking points. If I knew the actual name for those holes, maybe I could find the fastener and convert it for floor jack use. Rational and professional comments welcome.
See PDF file for actual frame with arrows. Last edited by TexasBruiser; 07-25-2023 at 02:46 PM.. Reason: Add image |

Anything wrong with the six jacking points BMW already tells us to use?
If you need to lift the entire front end of the car...use the jacking point designed at the center of the front axle support...then you can place jack stands below the front rubber jack pads/lift pads below the side rails. You can do the same for the rear axle by placing the floor jack below the rear diff (just be sure to clear the rear diff's cover)...then again, you can place jack stands below the rear rubber jack pads/lift pads below the side rails. Warning! The vehicle may be raised with a trolley jack at the following mounting point! (1) Centre of front axle support Note! Position the rubber part from the mounting plate of the trolley jack exactly centre on the front axle support. (2) Rear axle final drive Note! Position the rubber part from the mounting plate of the trolley jack in the centre on the rear axle differential, if applicable (if installed) exactly in the recess of the cover from the rear axle differential.
