CNET: 750 vs S550
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com This review was pretty good, spoiler they picked the 7 in the end, basically for many of the reasons that I am most likely getting the new 7 (unless the next version of the 6 Gran Coupe blows me away). http://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/sh...es-vs-s-class/ Enjoy.

I actually hadn't seen this, so thanks for posting. Not really a surprising outcome, given they started the review on the track. The BMW (for all it's heft and soft features) is still the better driver's car. The Merc is a better car to be "driven in".
Can't wait for my G12 to get here!

S class interior looks more ricey than elegant. Although the entertainment console looks beautiful, it doesn't seem to connect with the design of AC vents which are horrendous. Rear entertainment control from 7 series win hand down. Again BMW just win for its simply elegant design.

It's more about showing off possibilities and responsiveness. The G12 has no business on a race track, but it's nice to know how it'd handle the twists on the open road should I decide to flog it around a bit (as mentioned in the video).

Mercedes spent a lot of time making sure people would wow by looking at internet pictures. BMW spent a lot of time making sure people would wow in person. Huge difference.

Whenever they show the 7 series from the front i cringe a bit because of the front plate it takes so much away from the car why not go plateless like the benz even if in a state where it is the law i would take the ticket before I let them drill the bumper

Well, i feel they got this right.
Stripping it all down, it shows the generation gap between these two cars. The 7 is a modern well balanced car, the MB is classy and luxorious, yet old and heavy beneath all it's glitter.

Both are boats, only the 7 a little bit less so.
Benz has more presence. 7 interior and exterior design is very underwhelming for a car that's north or 100k.

The S550's exclusivity has been diluted since every C class and E class on the street looks about the same but on a smaller scale... Boring IMO.

Not even a contest, S was and has been always a flagship car in that class. New 7 and direction with most of their models BMW is taking I don't feel it.

Have you had a chance to sit in a new S Class? Good Lawd! I've seen the new 7 series too. It looks like a BMW interior. Not a large departure from what is in their other offerings.

7 is the more sporty one and the S Class is the more comfortable one, glad to see nothing's changed in that department.

I've been a BMW guy my whole life as well, just disappointed the 7 has become increasingly numb over the years.
