Exclamation BMW M7 spotting?! Or 7-series M-sport?

Very aggressive bumper underneath

Or possibly some kind of sport aero kit.

this is crazy! is bmw really going to do this? even with the Alpina B7? considering that the Alpina is coming out, i find an M7 pointless really. what in this photo shows that it could be an m7? im all for it though.

let the complaining begin!!

No M7. But after the X5 the next candidate for the Tri-Turbo diesel with 354PS will be the 7er. This is an aerodynamic package for the 7er in general.

from the mods made to the vehicle, i think it's just an aero kit. if it were an ///M model, i think there'd be some camo on the back, hiding the exhaust mods, which are probably necessary, given the amount of power an M7 would have to produce.

Not aggressive enough for an M7 IMO.

Probably an M-Sport package of some sorts. Back looks nice...

+1

Don't think this is a full blown ///M version of the 7 series.

More like a ///M aero kit only and maybe (hopefully) a few engine tweaks. Overall, not much has changed on the car (on the outside).

Also, the ///M versions usually sport the 'air vents' on the front fenders that BMW normally covers up with their camo film during this time of testing and in the above pictures, the front fenders are completely uncovered and no vents are seen anywhere. All ///M versions also sport the distinct quad pipe exhausts which this car doesn't!

So again, I highly doubt this is a M7...

Of course they had to make one - with that front bumper beeing so hideous they had to come up with something to replace it before the restyle in 4 years.
They will call it a sport package but its just a small tweak cause saying they need a restyle after only a year in the market would be too shamefull

Just a suggestion but maybe you should change your name to PMS as you seem to be pre-menstrating at BMW's overall direction.

Well maybe i am and maybe i will. But can you really blame me?? have you had a close look at these new cars coming in?? i have driven bmw all my life. The first car i bought with my own money was a 1602 and from there i had several other cars from different brands but always, always a bmw as my first drive. I am not at all conservative - as you see a drive a 7 from new and one of my all time favourites is the previous generation Z4 - but these new ones just dont make any sense - fugly bastards from the F01. But you have to admit its true...its the first time i've seen a sport package for a 7...and I now those bumpers had some critics (i was invited to bmw presentation of the new seven and i heard the comments)

+1 and i think this is more likely the aero package rather than the M7. or they are just covering the front and we are going to see the mule cars later on with more como's which to me sounds highly unlikely.

I don't think it's photoshoped in the sense that someone 'created' this image. However someone definitely worked this over with photoshop (or another application) to obscure some sort of identification on the image (at the top of the hood on the passanger side).

Did anybody notice that the windshield is cracked and the bra and front bumper seems to be all torn up?

Maybe they went off-roading or followed someone a bit too close on a gravel road

Interesting too is that the bra doesn't seem to fit the front end even though it appears that the holes where cut out with scissors!
Maybe that's due to the 'new' aero kit addition/change at the bottom of the front bumper?!?

Also notice the lower front bumper "honeycomb" type material. doesnt the new 5 series GT have material like this?

I think it does.

Well if you look at the 5 series GT, it has basically the entire front interior of the 7 series (along with all the gadgets), but maybe in different materials/color/trim choices. I also noticed that the headlights look like they came straight from the 7 series as well...

all good points....

From what I saw, the pricing of the GT is also fairly high - pushing 70k. Therefore the justification of the 7 series ish interior. I like the brake regeneration feature that I saw - too bad it isnt in our cars...

If you look at the 7 series international brochure, the brake energy regeneration feature was listed as one of the efficient dynamic features. However this feature is not present in the North American market model. Same goes for the X6. The feature was listed in the international brochure but is not in the North American models. I wonder if any models actually have this feature or if BMW just keeps advertising it for every new model but has yet to actually mass produce it?!?

I even looked for this system in the parts database and couldn't find it...
