Sir Jackie Stewart's F1 Tyrrell

I attended the 2011 SOVERN https://sovrenracing.org/ race at Pacific Raceways https://pacificraceways.com/

So incredible to see vintage race cars....everything from SCCA production classes to Trans-Am to the ultimate....F1's Tyrrell at speed....ohhhhhh, the sound of the Ford Cosworth V8:

Think it's 17 Canadian GP's we've attended, but 11 of them have been in this same grandstand/same seats...close to perfect viewing...the "Senna Corner" is a great out-braking overtake spot, and with the pit exit clearly in view, it makes it easy to follow the race.

Fantastic pictures!! Thanks for sharing!!

Canada is one of my fav races and on my list to attend in the future. And there is nothing better than viewing a great corner when the cars are braking and turning. There is nothing that does that action better than an F1 car!

Put more up if you have them!!

Great pics 3798j!!!!
Such pics of contemporary F1 machinery. You are correct - the view angle from your seats is superb - and your comment about keeping apprised of the race can be assessed by watching the cars that have pitted.

My bucket list includes Canada, Spa and Monza. I've only attended one GP and it was Monaco 2008.

Tell us about your experience in seeing Quebec City - we've always desired to travel there.

Got to say we don't actually play tourist while in Montreal. With three days at the track (and casino which is in the center of the track), four nights eating out (including Irish pubs where we've watched the likes of mechanics from Jaguar, Williams, and Jordan unwind Sunday nights after the race), and walking the streets that look like a continuous cars&coffee display, leave us pretty worn out by the Monday morning when we leave for home.
This photo is shot from the balcony of our hotel room...and I should also add that talk of making F1 races a two day event would hurt the host towns immensely...I know we spend a ton when there.

More Canadian GP (late 90's-early 00's)...Here are some photos from down at the hairpin. For those who haven't attended, the fit and finish of the cars is amazing...and not just the front runners. The Saubers, Jordans, Jaguars, and Stewarts just look beautiful.

Thank you for the great response and the great pic! Sounds like a full three days, for sure! Must be incredible to just be in the same pub as some of the F1 circus. And of course, the Irish pubs with great pub grub and a pint....or two.

Great comparative to the endless cars & coffee playing out in the streets.

I googled from your area to Montreal and it's about 500 miles or 8 hours; did you drive or fly??

It's next to impossible to describe a F1 car's ability to decelerate...first time there I (and others) couldn't stop saying "OMG!". They come in at 170mph (max speed is reached on the start/finish straight - 200mph), then brake down to 70mph. You start to be able to tell when they get it wrong...even before the inevitable lockup.

Spot on!

The most shocking thing in any dedicated track car or extremely high performance car is always the braking capabilities.

I have a few images from the 2019 USGP I will try to dig out.. We were in the Red Bull pen at the end of the back straight. We got to see the cars brake from 200 then go through the multi-turn complex and blast off into the Turn 8 replica.

Good Times!!

I can't wait to get back this year!!

Cheers-mk
