Pour out some liquor for the B7, sadly...

Wow! Sad day indeed. One less car that can get you in the 200+ mph club.

Funny how I saw that article the day after I traded in my B7.

It really is a special car. I've had "normal" V8 7s, and they are special in their own right, but the Alpina is even more so.

But from the business perspective, as few as they sell in this country (I'm guessing the biggest market) it doesn't make much business sense, especially with the B8.

It's an itch I was happy to scratch.

I just traded a S580 for the new '22 B7.
S580, as capable as it was, after driving AMGs (E63s, S63s) for the past 20 years, just bored me to death.
I only have about 600 miles so far (barely 10 days) but already am impressed with this car, it just feels and drives much more special then my last S63, 2019 model, even with the Renntech mods.
Anyone knows who can modify the B7 ECU at least ?

Congrats on the new B7! I had a Mercedes once, I forgot the model designation on the E350 (6 cylinder) but it was a rock-solid very capable car, and probably the most boring thing to drive I have ever owned. Well... excluding the first few cars I had, which were all American 70s & 80s garbage.

So, 600 HP isn't enough for you, huh?

Really not sure what the point of Alpina will be going forward as BMW continues down the current path. Just a slightly softer & less aggressively-styled M variant? Seems likely. If they ever ditch ICE entirely (doubtful, especially now) - there really won't any use for that badge any longer.
