Coding parameter
Hi guys,
let's use my first post in this forum for something usefull. Yesterday I upgraded my 2017 G30 with ID6 from 10.25 inch screen, to 12,3 inch - should be the same for G11 and G12. Like written here, everything is working now, except the map view, which is starting with a white frame around its corners. To stretch the map to fullscreen you have to toggle the I-Drive-Controller one time to the right side (split screen menu appears) and two times to the left (to enter the left context column). After that the map is strechted to fullscreen. In order to code the display to work, go into the ECU "Headunit" and search for parameter "CID_DISPLAY_RES". Change the default value from: "1440_540 [03]" to: "1920_720 [05]". That's all to it. I wish you a nice drive with your upgraded, more modern looking interior. Greetings |

I have a 2019 750Li (G12). Can someone tell me how I know what iDrive version I have. I believe I have the iDrive 6 but do not know how to confirm. Also, I am wondering, if I do indeed have the iDrive 6, can it be changed to iDrive 7 and if so what features I might gain. I am specifically interested in the Comfort Access features (auto lock when walking away) and remote start. My car is really highly optioned but does not have those features.
Thanks, Steve |

I have searched very long.
I would be glad if someone could proof me wrong But I think there is no fix, sadly. Even the coder in this forum told us that it can't be fixed. But please keep searching. Maybe you are more capable than us. |

Unfortunately it is seems to be impossible to upgrade from ID6 to 7. Apparently a lot of the infrastructure (sensors, wiring, hardware, etc.) to support id7 is different than what a car with id6 has. Particularly the instrument cluster which is very different between cars with ID6. While it may be possible by swapping all those components, I venture it would be an astronomical undertaking and not worth it. Some of the id7 features can be coded in but not things like remote start or proximity sensor locking |

Thanks to this great information I was also able to replace my 12.3" CID.
Thanks mrgicm So I spent a month designing and releasing some 3D printed parts to solve some of the problems associated with this, if anyone is interested. I will not distribute these parts, so please print them yourself. https://www.cocoa.ne.jp/archives/12882 It is written in Japanese, so you can use Chrome's translation function. |
